So, the ratings for the first two eps of SGU's S2 are in...

201: 1.18 mil., 0.5 demo
202: 1.07 mil., 0.5 demo

And I feel like spitting nails, peeps. Remember SGA? Doing 1.6 mil. on average in their fifth season? When it got canceled? When we were told that if the ratings were good, the show would be still on air? And it was replaced with... with... that?!

*deep breath* I'm so angry right now, I'm seeing red!

Ausiello posted a new SPN spoiler in his weekly column...

Spoiler under the cut! )

*happy face*

Also, I decided to cancel my pre-order of Jo Graham's SGA book "Death Game" - it's taking forever for Fandemonium to get it to the sellers, so I'll just make a bulk order of SGA and SG-1 books for Xmas, I think, and from Amazon DE too because they have cheaper shipping than Amazon US.

Day 11: Liz Williams' "Snake Agent" (Detective Inspector Chen #1)

Synopsis: Detective Inspector Chen is the Singapore Three police department's snake agent - the detective in charge of supernatural and mystical investigations. Chen has several problems: in addition to colleagues who don't trust him and his mystical ways, a patron goddess whom he has offended and a demonic wife who's tired of staying home alone, he's been paired with one of Hell's own vice officers, Seneschal Zhu Irzh, to investigate the illegal trade in souls. Political pressures both Earthly and otherworldly seek to block their investigations at every turn. As a plot involving both Singapore Three's industrial elite and Hell's own Ministry of Epidemics is revealed, it becomes apparent that the stakes are higher than anyone had previously suspected.

Why I want to read it: Any urban fantasy with a MALE protagonist is worth trying!

"Breakfast at 221B" by ajhall, read by fayjay | John/Sherlock | Asexuality | A Sherlock conversation, over breakfast. | 2.900 words/25 min.

"Eventually I found my way out onto the street and just started to walk. When dawn came up, I found myself in Greenwich, sitting next to the Cutty Sark and talking to the cormorant."

"And how was it, after the late night and the excitement?"

Sherlock's eyebrows went up. "Fine, so far as I know. Last seen paddling downriver towards the Thames Barrier with a look of determination on its beak."

I just loved the cormorant bit, seriously.

Tiny scene

This is a tiny scene from a WhiCo fic that I'll probably never write, that's why I decided to post it. I had this conversation stuck in my head and I needed to get rid of it. Which means it's unbeta'd, of course.

"I don't have sex," Caffrey said, sipping coffee.

Peter frowned. "You mean like," he leaned closer even though they were alone on the rooftop, "you can't?"

Caffrey sighed, setting his cup aside. "No, Agent Burke. I can get an erection," Peter flushed, "and I can have sex, I just don't." He shrugged.

Peter sat there, dumbfounded, and watched Caffrey tear off a piece of his croissant and eat it. "It's... I mean... Why?"

Another sigh followed. "Look, sex is a... pleasurable activity, I'm not trying to dispute that. But so is drinking Italian roast or seeing the Mona Lisa with your own eyes. And if I should choose between..." Caffrey cocked his head pensively, "...a fine bottle of wine or a - how would you call it? - 'romp in the sheets,' I would take the wine, thank you."

Peter blinked, then blinked again. "You're... serious?" he asked, bewildered.

Caffrey leaned closer. "I never joke about fine wine, Agent Burke." Then he leaned back and raised his coffee cup in a salute. "Or about Italian roast."

I wrote it because I'm kinda sick of people who think that there must be something wrong with you just because you don't want/need to have sex.
