How do I deal with bad/painful/embarrassing memories? When they start to overwhelm me - and I'm one of those people who just can't stop poking at sores - I imagine myself standing in a room, I'm on one side, my memories on the other - and then I draw a curtain between us. The curtain is heavy, made of red velvet, it's soft and warm to the touch - and as long as it's between me and my memories, they can't touch me. They are still there and I'm aware of them, but they can't reach me. I don't know if it's a healthy way, to deal with bad stuff that way, but so far, it's been working for me...

Clamp's "Card Captor Sakura Vol. 8" (manga), #79

I can't decide if Eriol is evil or not. He keeps testing Sakura's skills, but when she's sick, he heals her. And then there are Eriol's henchmen, especially Ruby Moon who wants to get rid of Yue - which means of Yuki too - and steal Toya's power... I love the scenes with Toya and Yukito - Toya keeps trying to tell Yuki something and Ruby Moon keeps interrupting them, which is really frustrating. And Sakura. Man, that girl is blind. Shaolan is so in love with her *sigh* Also, I wonder if Sakura's dad and Tomoyo's mom will get together. That would be perfect!

Day 18 - Favorite beginning scene in a book:

Off the top of my head? Well, Josh Lanyon's "Somebody Killed His Editor" - on his way to a writer's retreat deep in the rain drenched woods, the moderately successful writer Christopher Holmes stumbles across a dead body. Like, almost literally. And when he finally realizes that he's actually standing, you know, right in the middle of a CRIME SCENE, he steps back and apologizes to the body. Seriously XD

When it comes to the beginning scenes in books, I like to be dropped right in the middle of the action. I hate drawn-out beginnings where the author feels the need to explain everything in minute detail first and THEN introduce some action.
