"A Box Called Time" by Sage | Clark/Lex, Clark/Lois | Off-screen death at the beginning | A grieving Superman returns to the one person he can trust | 6.700 words

Clark's eyes were wet again, which meant-- Lex's brain had already spun a hundred scenarios that would explain this moment, this completely surreal experience of waking up in the middle of the night to argue with one's former lover and current nemesis as he levitated above the bed. It didn't help that said lover/nemesis also happened to be the most powerful non-magical creature presently residing on the planet, or that something had possessed him to break in and demand the secret stash he'd entrusted to Lex over a decade before.

I love both Lex and Lois in this fic. Clark is so broken and both Lex and Lois are trying to fix him in their own way...

116 Stray: Seriously, is it just me or is the relationship between Lex and Lionel quite creepy? The way Lionel always leans into Lex... *shudders* Poor Chloe, Ryan really embarrassed her in front of Clark. And what Ryan said about Lex - you know, even knowing that Lex isn't bad yet, he is quite... scary, to be honest. Sure, it's nice to know that he can solve any problem for you, but the way he does it! He doesn't think twice of destroying someone just because he can. I know that at this point, he's fiercely loyal to his friends, but he loves to dance on the edge and if he was my friend, I would be afraid that he would fall and take me with him.

But the best part of the episode? The two scene with Clark and Lex. First the one in the barn, when Lex told Clark about Julian. When Clark asked "What happened?" and Lex told him that Julian died - Clark's expression, the moment he realized that he stepped right into it. And then when he said to Lex that if anybody could choose who they wanted to be, it was Lex - it's quite nice how they guide each other along the way towards light and darkness. And second, when Lex gave Clark the "sword" and Clark told him that for what it was worth, he hoped that Lex would stay. Man, could their road to being enemies be any more painful?
