( Synopsis... )
Review: First in the Jaz Parks series. The story itself wasn't all that original but I liked the characters a lot. Jaz herself, Vayl, Cole, Bergman, Cassandra, Jaz's family... I really want to know more about them. The banter among the characters was quite funny and I loved the whole "secret agents" and "crazy gadgets" angle. It felt a bit like James Bond in urban fantasy setting. Quite cool, actually.

Kung Fu: The Legend Continues S1 is coming out on DVD this October in Germany! Huzzah! I'll be definitely ordering that. Oh my, this has been one of my favorite TV shows ever and I was always bummed that it wasn't out on DVD!
Supernatural 1x07+1x08+1x09
Aug. 28th, 2009 10:22 pm1x07, Hook Man: Oh, I loved that ep. The boys researching in the local library. The invisible hook man scratching up the wall. The special effects of the spirit going poof! Dean digging up a grave and complaining.
1x08, Bugs: I never understood why people were so against this episode. I liked it a lot. It was funny and all eww at the same time. And there was Jim Byrnes! I loved all the insights into their lives, the difference between how John used to handle Dean and Sam etc. And the "sexual orientation" speech! Ha!
1x09, Home: Oh my, Jensen can do desperate so well! But I never understood why Missouri behaved in such a way towards Dean. Maybe she sensed that if she offered comfort, he would take for the hills immediately? And the first "Sam gets strangled" scene, one of plenty to come ;P But why did Dean smash the door instead of breaking a window?

American classes?
Aug. 28th, 2009 11:03 pmI've been talking to
disutansu about what's considered a "class" at the US universities. Can you please explain it to me in lay terms?
Here, a class is a 90-minute-long block held once a week. So, like German Syntax is a class that's being held from 7.30am - 9.00am every Monday. The usual load is 11-13 classes a week, which means 11-13 90-minute-long blocks a week, usually held from Monday till Thursday, which means approximately 3 classes a day. But it also happened to me that I had classes all day long from 7.30am to 7pm with only a short break for lunch around 2pm. The number of classes goes down with every year, the first year is always the worst.
How does it work in the USA?
