You know, lately, I've noticed that a lot of subbing groups doesn't do .avi files and hardsubs anymore but goes for all sort of other abbreviation of file types. I really don't like softsubs because all the ones I've encountered so far, run together and are unreadable at some points - like when the subbers try to set the notes up on the screen but they end up mingled together with the actual subs. Oh, and the fact that the subbing groups become rather annoyed when you ask them how you should actually play their stuff is another point entirely. Why, oh why can't they keep to .avi files? I know that .mkv and .ogm/.ogg files are of a higher quality but not every player can play them without tons and tons of codecs! Argh!

And what do you actually prefer?
