Another thing that popped up on the internet while I was otherwise occupied was the casting of Ben Affleck as Batman in the next Superman movie. I... don't know what to say, to be honest. I don't hate the guy but I'm not exactly a fan. He has always seemed very bland to me. Wallpaper material. I think he's a much better writer and director than he's an actor. So, I'm not hating on him or bashing him but my interest in the next Superman movie went down a notch.
And now, Breaking Bad's Bryan Cranston was cast as Lex Luthor: link. And my interest went down another notch. I've never watched BB and I have no interest in watching it. Like at all. I have no doubt that he's an excellent actor and I congratulate his fans on his casting. But for me? It's yet another bland casting.
Don't get me wrong, I liked Man of Steel well enough but... their choice of actors? Bland. Bland. And more bland. The only actor who actually stood out for me was Russell Crowe. I like Henry Cavill but I just don't think he has the proper charisma to be the sole lead. And Amy Adams, as sweet as she is, just isn't fiery enough to be Lois Lane. And now these two actors...
The more I hear about the movie, the less interest I have in it. I guess I really am a Marvel girl because their casting choices? In 9 cases out of 10 I'm like, *DOLPHIN NOISES* Robert Downey Jr. Tom Hiddleston. Both Chris's. Karen Gillan. Hayley Atwell. Lee Pace!
Also, when it comes to Batman I think I'm still stuck in the 90s, because for me? Michael Keaton is the one and only Batman. Tim Burton's movie was the perfect blend of dark and humorous. And Keaton was perfect, simply perfect. So unassuming yet strong...
