I know that Shia LaBeouf is a real ass in real life, at least that's what people say about him, but I can't say a thing against his acting. He's really great as Sam. Sam and Lennox are my favorite two characters in the movie, so it's rather weird that neither of them will be back for the 4th movie - it's a reboot with completely new characters :( Why? Just... Why? I mean, even if Shia didn't want to come back, why toss Josh Duhamel? And Tyrese Gibson? Why not focus on their unit? That would've been awesome because I loved the guys, I loved that they always stood behind Lennox. And Lennox's friendship with Sam - you couldn't find two people more dissimilar and yet...
And even though Megan Fox is said to be a real bitch too - not for nothing did Michael Bay fire her from movie #3 - I loved Mikaela. Yes, she wasn't exactly the intelligent sort but she was resourceful and courageous and she didn't budge when push came to shove. And that was wonderful. Like when she drove Bumblebee and together they fought the bad guys. That was awesome.
And I actually loved the comic relief in this movie. I hated it in Pacific Rim, as much as I adored the movie, the so called comic relief was really dumb, IMHO. But here... I guess I shouldn't be surprised, it was written by Orci and Kurtzman, the guys behind JJ Abrams' Star Trek or Hawaii 5-0. They have the perfect comedic timing, just the right amount to balance out the angst but not so much that it distracts. Great! Usually, I feel really... energized after watching something written by them.
