I have got just the first film on DVD and to be perfectly honest, I don't think I will be buying the next two. This one was enough for me. It was raw and ugly and dark, and though I can usually handle dark movies, this one was simply too much even for me. All the rapes... It's just something I don't handle well. Also, the graphic way in which the assaults were portrayed, it wasn't necessary for the storytelling. I give it points for not trying to prettify the crime, for showing what it really is like, but... it felt almost fetishistic, violence for violence's sake. And that's not something I handle well.

I liked Kalle's side of the story, the search for the missing girl's murderer. But not Lisbeth's. I mean, the rawness of her story explained a lot about her, about her character, about her reactions, about her attitude but...

The ending was perfect, in my opinion. And it's also the reason why I don't feel the need to watch movies number 2 and 3. An interesting movie, sure, but I really don't get the brouhaha.
