This book is, for all intents and purposes, a historical romance. Yes, it takes place in a fantasy land but pretty much nothing would have to change if it was moved to the Highlands and our world. There's no magic in the book, it's all about the clash of two civilizations. But even that is background material to the romance between Lara and Keir (whose name suddenly changes from Kier to Keir in the middle of the book, don't ask me why). It's an easy read, something light for the summer months. I liked it mostly because of its excellent characters. They're lovely.
