The author had me till he made John lose the sword for the second time in one day. That's when the book jumped the shark, in my opinion. There were some very imaginative fight scenes but I felt the whole thing with Arthur was quite unnecessary and John could've handled the elves on his own. I mean, it was he who came up with a solution in the end, after all.

Also, I'm not sure if I like the little twist at the very end. I guess I will have to see how the last book in the series goes...
