Oh, peeps! The Brazilian movie From Beginning to End (Do começo ao fim) is hands down one of the best gay romances I've EVER seen! It won't be everybody's cuppa because it deals with incest but it's right up my alley! Beautifully shot with gorgeous actors who have so much chemistry the screen burns with it... and a happy ending to boot! This is my Holy Grail, people!
The movie is about Francisco and Tomás. They live in a very happy, well-off family. They have the same mother but different fathers, their mother gets along fabulously with her ex and even her current husband is on good terms with him. They are really, really happy. But then, the boys slowly become so close they start making their family slightly uncomfortable. But nobody knows how to tell them to stop. How do you tell your 12 year old kid that loving his little brother best in the world is wrong? And so they don't do anything.
Fast forward 15 years. The mother and her first husband, Francisco's father, are dead, her second husband, Tomás' father, moves out and lets Francisco and Tomás keep the villa. The brothers now live alone. And they fall hard for each other. And by hard, I mean inseparable, "two halves of the same soul" hard. They live for each other. Francisco is a doctor, Tomás is a swimmer and they are incredibly happy. But then, Tomás is offered a place on the Olympic team, which means going abroad for the next 3 years...
Gosh... Just... wow! *_* I mean, LOOK AT THEM, folks!

They are so incredibly tender with each other. I can't remember the last time I've seen so much tenderness in a movie. You really believe that they are head over heels, totally gone for each! They are smoldering hot, I kid you not. And I adored the happy ending. And what's best, Tomás' father knows and even though it does make him uncomfortable and he prefers not to talk about it with them, he accepts that it's their choice and they are adults - it's made VERY clear that anything that happens between them, sexually, happens WAY after the age of consent for both.
I'll be definitely getting this one on DVD! So, so wonderful...
