Misha talks about SPN's S8
Aug. 18th, 2012 10:13 amBlastr posted a short article about Misha Collins' Castiel and how big/small his part would be in Supernatural's S8: link.
I'm really, really glad. It surprised me just how much I missed Castiel in S7. And, you know, hearing Misha talk about Castiel, I think now, after the fact, it's obvious just how... hurt? stung? disappointed?... he was when SPN dropped him as a regular character. You didn't realize it before, but looking back you can see that there was a sudden lack of... exuberance on his part. Gah *hands* I'm not sure I'm saying this right.
You know, when this show began, I was all over Sam and Dean. They were THE thing for me. And I still love them to pieces but at some point, the closeness between the disappeared. They were PHYSICALLY close, but not EMOTIONALLY anymore. Where's the Dean who sold his soul to save Sam? Where is the Sam who went nuts when Dean kept dying on him in Mystery Spot? I'm just not seeing them anymore.
Right now, I hope the show will manage to capture some of that magic with Dean and Castiel again. The Sam related spoilers left a pretty bad aftertaste in my mouth. I hope that at least Dean and Cas' bond will still be in place, that the writers will repair it. I just want to have a reason again to wait for every episode with a bated breath, all impatient and giddy. I'm not sure when that feeling disappeared on me...
"I thought at the end of last season, 'Hey, thank God they left me in Purgatory with Dean. I'm definitely going to be significant next season.' Then there was a little back and forth where it wasn't really clear whether I was going to come back at all -- and the way in which I do come back is not at all what I expected. I'll be back much more significantly this season than last."
