Snow White & Huntsman, SWATH

Yeah, I can't get the movie out of my head. I mean, the script could've been much better with a little work and it did drag in the middle but at the same time, the movie fascinated me, especially the characters of Snow and Huntsman, their development, her relationship with William...

First, I have to say that I was glad the writers didn't let any of her relationships overshadow the path she had to walk. From a happy child to a prisoner to a fugitive to Jean D'Arc to the queen of the country. I was happy to see her follow it, strong and resilient, never giving up even when the situation seemed hopeless. I wish there were more heroines like her.

Second, I was glad that they didn't make her and William a couple. Don't get me wrong, William was a cute guy, a strong leader and a great warrior. But he saw the little girl he had lost in her, not the woman she became. He just couldn't reconcile her current self with the pampered kid he knew.

And enter Huntsman. Who didn't know her as a child. He knew only the young woman she became. And who didn't back down, who slapped him and stole his knife and was willing to crawl through the dark forrest to escape. She was afraid but she didn't let it stop her and it impressed him.

So when you compare William and Huntsman... William wanted to protect her, Huntsman gave her a knife and showed her how to use it. William wanted to talk about good old times, he represented her past, Huntsman her future. William wanted to keep her in place, Huntsman let her to move forward...

The scene in the cathedral, when Huntsman talked to "dead" Snow was beautifully done. And when he kissed her and woke her up, I might have squealed on the inside! But once more, they didn't make a big deal of it. Because their romance wasn't the show's main plot. When he knelt to her and then joined her at the head of her army, those moments were much more profound. Because he wasn't there to hold her hand, he was there to support her. And her expression when he joined her was beautiful! He could've left but he stayed because he trusted her to do it, to kill the evil queen. And she knew it.

And the last scene, when she was crowned. Gosh, the way she kept searching the hall, looking for him. And when she saw him! That was better than any love scene, any kiss could've been. It was as if the sun rose for her. Her smile...

So, yeah. I might be slightly, kinda, maybe a bit smitten with these two. I can't help it *hands*
