Day 18: Most annoying character that tried to come between a ship


Cassie Welles, The Sentinel

I think that everybody who watched The Sentinel remembers Cassie Welles, the bitchy lab tech the writers tried to push between Jim and Blair. IIRC, the hatred for her was pretty much universal across the fandom. Seriously, all that woman did was bitch and bitch some more and play detective and pretty much ruin half the work Jim had already done in her need to prove that she was awesome and that she would've made an awesome detective, if not for her asthma.

The love triangle the writers tried to force was so terrible that Richard Burgi - who played Jim Ellison - himself put his foot down and refused to go on with it. He was just as annoyed as the fans because he loved that the show focused on the friendship between Jim and Blair. And the character of Cassie was ruining everybody's fun.
