The Bourne Supremacy
Mar. 26th, 2012 10:25 pmThe Bourne Supremacy was watched tonight. Another from my pile of unwatched DVDs. Every time I watch Bourne, it hits me just how much better these movies are than James Bond. They are much more gritty and action oriented and less... smarmy - every time Bond says "Bond, James Bond"? I feel like laughing at him, "Dude, that works for you?" Icky. The whole thing with a different Bond girl in every movie... eh.
Which is why I love the Bourne trilogy and especially parts 2 and 3 - because of the amazing women! Pamela Landy! Nicky! Even Marie - though I didn't see much chemistry between her and Jason, TBH. I think Nicky would've been a much better fit for him. But Pamela... Man, beautiful and smart and strong and NOT bitchy! A real team leader with a presence that's felt - yet she doesn't need to belittle men and "show them how it's done" as many so called strong women do, which is BS, IMHO. Pamela is simply awesome!
And then there is...

Karl Urban as Kirill. Man, that guy has charisma up the wazoo, seriously. He almost doesn't talk at all in this movie but when he's after Bourne, you can literally feel the danger! The scene where Kirill is chasing Bourne in the car and they see each other through the windshield, really SEE each other, they are face to face for the first time... Sheesh on a pogo stick! Yes, Karl Urban as a merciless killer = me drooling.
Oh, and the music! The music is so perfect! It gets your blood pumping, it puts you on the edge of your seat!
I tried to listen to the director's audio commentary - eh, don't bother. No energy, no excitement. When you compare it to Justin Lin's commentary on the F&F DVDs, you find this one lacking like whoa. Stopped it after 10 minutes or so. The rest of the extras is quite interesting but nothing really blew me away.
And now I can't wait for The Bourne Legacy this summer with Jeremy Renner as Aaron Cross!
