Merlin 412+413
Dec. 28th, 2011 10:13 pmWow, that was... awful. What a terrible finale. How could the writers have mucked up the season so badly after the first few amazing episodes is beyond my comprehension. Just look at the S4 premiere, at the cinematography and storytelling, at the sheer scope of it - and then look at the season finale, how... unimpressive that looked, the choppy storytelling and downright stupid storylines! Wow, I can't remember the last time I was this disappointed by a season finale!
The attack on Camelot lacked any scope, like they had to save money, but I could understand that. But the part with making Arthur stupid? Really? And where did Hunith go? And Tristan and Isolde... Seriously, first they make Guinevere a black servant girl and now this? Tristan and Isolde as smugglers? And not just that, they were there just to teach Arthur a lesson: first Tristan with his whining, then Isolde through her death. For real? And for an occupied castle, everybody could sneak in and out of it as they pleased! And the whole thing with Gwaine - it felt like the writers had to add minutes somewhere because their story was simply too thin to stretch to two episodes. And 4 seasons in, Arthur still doesn't know about Merlin's magic - seriously, if he learns about it in the last episode of the show, I'll be so pissed off! And what was that with Morgana and the dragon?
Wow, so much stuff just slapped together... *hands*
