Doom

Watched Doom tonight, the military sci-fi movie with Karl Urban and Dwayne Johnson.

It was rec'd to me by green_wing for its wonderful brother-sister relationship! And I have to agree with her. Someone wrote this movie with the idea of John and Samantha being husband and wife or ex's and when they re-wrote it, someone forgot to change certain parts. Them talking, it really did feel like watching a couple, not siblings. Not that I'm complaining or something... ;P

The movie itself reminded me a lot of Aliens - the same dark, grim setting, a band of marines sent to eliminate a threat... Overall, it wasn't all that great but I've seen worse. The silliest part was the 1st person POV shoot-out at the end, with X-24!Reaper doing the shooting. The best parts, on the other hand, were the scenes that focused on Karl. Oh my, is he gorgeous or what? \o/ And Dwayne Johnson! What a man! The final fight between Sarge and Reaper... Wow! Oh, and I also liked Duke, the black soldier who was all smitten with Reaper's sister; he was funny.

You know, watching the movie I realized where all those Reaper!Bones fics in the ST: Reboot fandom come from - yes, I'm a bit thick :P And now that I actually got to know Reaper, I wouldn't mind re-reading them because he kicked major, major ass!

I loved Doom. I mean, it was silly and based on a shooter game, but I loved it, mostly because of Karl and Rosamund. They were awesome!

That, and Dwayne Johnson's "sempre fi, motherfucker!" :D

I adored the fact that Reaper and Sam were siblings, not lovers or a married couple or ex's! And he looked so awesome in that black camo!
