This season's pushing all my buttons. ALL the eps have been excellent so far, not one dud. How did THAT happen? What did the writers DO over the hiatus that they got so excellent?
Yeah, Arthur is pretty Uther like when it comes to magic, he just puts his blinders on and he doesn't see or hear. But you could see that Merlin, as much as he loves Arthur, is slowly getting fed up with his foolhardy hate for magic.
I loved the scene where Merlin spoke against Agravaine (because Gaius wouldn't simply leave him without a word) - and Arthur called him to order... Only to get this soft, sad look on his face when he realized Merlin was on the verge of tears.
And the scene with Merlin and Gwen, that was so sweet when she came to check on him.
And Gwaine! I love the continuity, that Gwaine is Merlin's best friend among the knights. I also loved that he actually CAME and that he BELIEVED Merlin even though Arthur dismissed him. I hope it means that Gwaine would stand by Merlin's side if Merlin's magic was revealed...
I actually got the shivers when the priest knelt down before Merlin, telling him they would all willingly die for him and his vision. I wonder if it will come down to Arthur with his knights against Merlin with the priests and druids, them hiding him once Arthur finds out - because he WILL find and obviously he won't react rationally.
The bedroom scene was a hoot. I loved how Arthur allowed Merlin to manhandle him. It must be a common occurrence :P
And the speech at the very end, Gaius telling Arthur about Merlin without telling him about Merlin was great. I hope Arthur will remember it once he finds out about Merlin...

And Merlin was so, so gorgeous in this episode.

And the way it was shot! I'm smitten with the cinematography this year!
