katikatSeriously, their first meeting was like something out of a romance novel: Charles feels Erik there, Erik's so obsessed with getting Shaw he doesn't care if he himself drowns, Charles jumps in after him and saves his life. Romance in the making right there :))
And did you notice? Erik touched Charles' mind, not the other way around. Charles didn't even know Erik was there until the "Bam! Epic headache!" moment. I think it's interesting. It seemed like it never happened to Charles before - or even after, at least not in the movie. No wonder that even James McAvoy thought that Charles has never again bonded with someone like he did with Erik...
And then there was the "You're not alone, Eric" moment of epic awesomeness, of course... *_*
