A very good adventure book. I liked the relationship between Marcus and Esca, Marcus' willingness to learn more about the native culture of Britain, his growth throughout the book, Esca's pride but also his pragmatism... Yes, it was a bit light on character development - I would've liked a little more in-depth look at the friendship between Marcus and Esca - and I could've done without the Cottia subplot - it was pretty obvious that Marcus wasn't head-over-heels for her - but I didn't mind it all that much. So, yeah, it was a really good book.
