"Bloody whelp, always causing trouble, not worth the salt on his boots, I say," Jack grumbled, scowling at the little boat that carried Elizabeth away, to a rendezvous with her husband, one William Turner. "Nothing but trouble with that one since I met him, the bloodiest day of my bloody life! By now, I could've been captain of the Flying Dutchman, immortality and all. If I had just stabbed the bloody heart, it would be me making plans for eternity and good-bye Locker!" He harrumphed, twisting his lips.
"So, why didn't you?" asked Gibbs, standing next to him at the railing of the Black Pearl.
Jack turned around and looked at him, tilting his head back slightly to make his annoyance clear. "Didn't I, what?"
"Stab the heart?" Gibbs explained, mimicking holding Davy Jones' heart in one hand and stabbing it with the other.
Jack leveled such a withering glare at him that Gibbs swallowed hard and stepped back, pointing hastily in the general direction of the wheel. "I think... Oh, look, Captain Barbosa's calling me!" he blurted out and made a break for it.
Sniffing in annoyance, Jack glared after him, furrowing his brows even further, his scowl so magnificent that every man on board gave him a wide berth.
After few more dark looks, Jack snapped around and gripping the rigging tight with one hand, he looked at the boat and at the small form of Will Turner, waiting for his wife on the beach of the nameless island. "Why didn't I, huh?" he said under his breath, leaning into the ropes. "Because, believe it or not, mate, that bloody whelp is my friend."
