My dear podficers!
Nov. 29th, 2010 10:09 pmI love you and I love all the effort and time and patience you put into reading cool, amazing fics. But...
TURN UP THE VOLUME, for Christ's sake! I know that some people get all hot and bothered when someone's whispering in their ear but I actually like hearing what you're saying!
I mean, when the initial recording is silent, it leads to two things:
a) The podficer leaves it like that and the listener has to turn the volume up to the max to actually HEAR IT! It's all nice and dandy when it's on an iPod or an .mp3 player but on a comp? Where everything else then sounds like someone's dropping a bomb on your head? You barely hear the podfic but when your email pings, it pops you ear drums? Podfics like that go DELETE DELETE DELETE no matter how awesome the fic is!
b) The podficer turns up the volume after the recording's done - and the recording then hums and buzzes and echoes and crackles and the reading is barely understandable anyway. And podfics like that go DELETE DELETE DELETE again!
I know that podficers do what they do in their free time, because it's fun for them and I am grateful, I always leave feedback when I listen to someone's podfic. But the low volume, especially when the reader adds music that's BLARING compared to the podfic, drives me up the wall!
