Spending time in the unimaginable torture chambers of the Abyss for even a day would be enough to break even the heartiest soul, and the barbarian Wulfgar was there for years. When he returns, his friends find him a changed man, and not changed for the better. But Wulfgar's road to redemption is one he must travel on his own, even if it leads to the bottle.

Review: Two story-lines that later on meshed. I liked the story of Wulfgar, the well-known hero, even though some parts felt way, way over the top - the way he was wrongfully accused, captured for crimes he didn't commit and he just let it happen, twice even, without saying a word in his own defense - but overall, it was really interesting to see him drag himself out of the bottle and make something of himself again. But Meralda's story... I had not an ounce of sympathy for her because - to be very, very crude - if she hadn't spread her legs for a fling, she wouldn't have hurt so many people and even if Priscilla was a real bitch, Meralda had no moral high ground or justification to play the injured party.

To sum it up, a good book and I'm interested in where Wulfgar, Delly and the baby are headed.
