Day 04 - Your favorite book or series ever:

"Almost Like Being in Love" by Steve Kluger AKA the love story of Travis Puckett and Craig McKenna as told through emails, Post-It notes and various other unconventional ways. This book is like a chicken soup for the soul or a hot chocolate on a cold winter day. Whenever I feel blue, this book helps. Travis is nuts and a geek, Craig is smart and a jock. And they fit together like two jigsaw puzzle pieces!

Craig: "I was right. He knows everything. Like metaphors and nuclear reactors and Luke Skywalker's middle name and the ingredients of Cheerios. All in the same sentence!"

or

Craig: "According to Travis, I'm not allowed to eat lettuce or grapes (exploited migrant workers on the West Coast), canned salmon (lousy living conditions for Filipino packers in Alaska), or those little peas that look like green BBs (forced labor in central California - in 1930!). So far, no problem. I mean, he hasn't come down on Junior Mints yet, so I'm okay."

*KERMITFLAILS!* I love love love that book! Like, the first time I read it, when I finished it, I went right back to the beginning and reread it. So awesome! I reread it approximately once a year, and I still love it each time I read it again!

Me too! This book is like spun sugar - fluffy and sweet. I love the scene where Travis tells Craig and his colleague all about his search for Craig and the girl is all fascinated, totally smitten with the crazy!

Yes, it's like their combined crazy is catching in the best way. Actually, my roommate got the book first, and then she had the audacity to read aloud various parts until I broke and bought it myself (after stealing her copy and reading it first). Once she read the part where Craig figures out Travis is coming after him because someone broke into his mother's office and organized her Post-Its -- I was sold! <3 <3 <3

Oh man, I loved that scene. Loved when Craig's mother wrote to him that she didn't even mention it to the cops because they would think she was nuts.

Or when Craig was all "I hope he didn't try to make an appointment with my mother, I think I forgot to tell him that she was a gynecologist." XD

Ah-ha-ha, and Travis did make an appointment! The book is all eminently quotable and so awesome, and now that we've been talking about it, I'm going to have to insert it into my "to read" queue for my annual reread of it. What a pity, right?

Or, omg, near the beginning, when Travis asks his students what he should do about finding Craig and going after him, and they give him advice for extra credit! Kills me every time!

It is, it is! There's a smidgen of angst just to make it even more appealing but overall, it's sweetness pure. A remedy for all that's wrong with the world.
