Comic books

I'm falling hard for comic books - but I prefer DC Comics to Marvel. Batman or Superman seem much more appealing to me than, I don't know, Captain America. And out of the DC world, I love Gotham best - it's so dark and gloomy and creepy... Besides, if Bruce and Dick weren't "doing it" together at one point in their life, I'll eat my hat - even in the "Nightwing & Huntress" comic book, Oracle told Nightwing that he wanted to sleep with Huntress because she reminded him of Batman...

But the thing is, when you pick up a comic book, you need to do some reading first and find out what happened before, because there's no way to read ~everything~ that was published in the past - Batman comic books are up to 650+ issues, sheesh. Like, I picked up "Green Lantern: Rebirth" but I needed to find out why was Hal Jordan actually dead in the first place XP

You'll need the Emerald Twilight Arc to find out why Hal is/was dead. The actual reason was that they thought he skewed too hold and wanted a younger, hipper GL

Yeah, I read about how the whole "Hal goes crazy" plot pissed fans off so much that they stopped buying Green Lantern altogether so years later, DC resurrected Hal in a new comic book with a new writer and a new artist. Wikipedia is an awesome tool :P

the boy got you then
ah nightwing, secretly recruiting comic girls against their will

actually if you want the slashiest of all moments in nightwing you want issue 100 where he regrets doing something (won't spoil) but is dealing with the fallout and doesn't want to tell batman
i swear he spends like fifteen pages fantasising about Batman's ass!
it just went on and on and on and on

you also know dick was dumped, ran off with Garth and is now shagging Tim for all he's worth and wondering how long it will be till Damien's legal

ah, there's my boy

but i bring you recs
the fancomic queen - author of batman and sons

and
www.teland.com

seriously the best slash writer i've found for the DC boys - her "stop this day and night with me" literally had me chewing on my own spleen in envy

Awesome. Thank you so much :) I got into the comic books through Smallville and astolat's Reconcilable Differences slash story where she shipped Kon and Tim :)

DC and the Bat boys are the BLACK HOLE. There is RAGE and SQUEE aplenty, and DC is the only fandom I can think of where my several OTPs overlap (for example: Bruce/Dick, Dick/Tim, Tim/Jason, Jason/Bruce, pile 'o Robins) and yet I am happy. Actually, forget that. There is no OTP. Everyone is a pairing!

Your approach (Wiki when you don't understand a reference) is useful and will save you a mint in trades.

(Now...off to find that Dick/Clark rebound fic set around Teen Titans!)

I got into comic books through Smallville and astolat's slash fics that portrayed the Kon/Tim pairing. And then I saw a couple of scans from Red Robin, the ones where Tim hugs Kon tight - and I was smitten.

My favorite pairings are pretty much Bruce/Dick and Tim/Kon 8)

I never got into DC; Marvel all the way: early Conan, Dr. Strange, X-Men, but that was the 1960's and 70s. I haven't really been keeping up these past few decades. *feels old*

I've been always fascinated by Batman and Gotham in general. I loved the first Batman with Michael Keaton, the way Gotham was portrayed there, all dark and industrial... And then there was Batman the Animated Series and... \o/

Of the comics you mentioned, I could get into X-Men. I'm a big, huge fan of Cyclops!
