Co-creator and showrunner Robert C. Cooper departs SGU. Honestly, don't know what to say. He has been with Stargate for so long - Vegas which he wrote and directed was one of the best episodes of SGA ever! - and SGU is his and Wright's baby. I wonder what made him abandon it...

I followed the link, and honestly, I'm more interested in this:

That sounds like it'll be fun. ^_^

(Sorry for going off topic, and I need a Bobby icon, ASAP!)

I'm very behind in SGU. I'm watching it with Jay, and our free time for TV watching doesn't coincide very often. I like the show, but not enough that I have to watch it as soon as I can. It's more of a filler show for me.

Yes, that SPN spoiler sounds quite intriguing, doesn't it? :P

I find the whole thing with Cooper interesting because it doesn't happen that often that an exec leaves in the middle of S2, especially not a co-creator.

That is odd. Too bad the SGU Sucks forum seems to be down right now - they'd probably have a lot to say about this.

It is quite odd, isn't it? I mean, execs don't usually leave ~successful~ shows in their S2. It makes you wonder what's going on behind the scenes...

It's biter sweet. Cooper was after all, was one half of the team who brought us SG-1 and SGA, writing some of my favorite SGA eppys, including "Doppelganger" and "Vegas".

On the other, he and Wright were the reason we lost SGA and got SGU. Cooper was never the 'spokes person', that was Wright and it was Wright that needed PR courses and needs to be hung out to dry.

It's a bad sign if you are a SGU fan and I'm sorry thier choice to dump one show for another is spelling doom for the franchise.

You know, I wouldn't actually mind if the SG franchise ended on the small screen. Maybe someone would re-invent it in a more intriguing way in a couple of years, the way they did it with Star Trek and the new movie.
