Sent to investigate a series of grisly murders in Raccoon City, S.T.A.R.S. Bravo Team scrambles into action. On the way to the scene, Bravo's helicopter crashes. Although everyone survives, what they discover next is gruesome: an overturned military transport truck riddled with corpses -- and that's only the beginning of their nightmare. Bravo Team is about to discover the evil that is growing all around them, and rookie member Rebecca Chambers is beginning to wonder what she's gotten herself into.

Review: A good, fast-paced book with non-stop action, likable heroes and scary monsters. A tie-in to the computer game Resident Evil and it follows the scenario of a game to the dot - unfortunately. How so? It's the same thing over and over again: open a door, find a monster, kill a monster, find a clue, move on - lather, rinse, repeat. Oh, don't get me wrong, the action never stops and Billy and Rebecca are locked up in a training facility full of zombies, after all, so the plot is pretty much what you could expect - but the thing with the keys and clues and puzzles, uh, that was just too much, that was where the plot became slightly ridiculous. Other than that, the book reminded me slightly of works by Matthew Riley, especially of "Ice Station".

That sounds great! I read SD Perry's novelization of Virus, the sort of stranded!boat-alien virus horror film and had basically the same reaction: good, fast-paced book with non-stop action, likeable heroes and scary monsters. Only there wasn't so much repeat. There was some ridiculous, though. But I'll definitely be on the lookout for this one and more by this author.

Perry wrote a whole series of books for Resident Evil. I have another one to read but I needed to take a break from all the zombie killing first, so I took a gay romance now :)

Perry really did remind me of Matthew Riley...
