Wodehouse's stories are certainly written for reading aloud and Martin Jarvis reads them in such a hilarious way that you simply have to laugh out loud. Too bad that not all of the stories are about Bertie Wooster and his gentleman's gentleman, Jeeves. Only two actually are: "Bertie Changes His Mind" and "Fixing It for Freddie". The rest is told from the point of view of Bertie's various crazy friends. I've seen the show Jeeves&Wooster and those stories that actually don't have Bertie and Jeeves as the main heroes were re-written for them in the show and to be honest, they were even funnier that way. I especially loved the story "Doing Clarence a Bit Good" in the show where Bertie had a big problem stealing the painting, almost gluing himself to a table. That was hilarious.
Oh, pish - Jeeves and Wooster 4x05-6
Dec. 16th, 2009 09:05 pmIt's done. I'm done watching J&W. And I had a blast, really. There were weaker episodes and stronger ones but the quotes were always hilarious and Jeeves always saved the day. What a man, this Jeeves.
My favorite quote in the last two episodes?
Bertie: Women always put a damper on things, don't they, Jeeves?
I love you, Bertie, don't ever change.
My favorite scene in the whole series? Bertie trying to steal the painting in S3! That makes me still giggle!
And now I'm all ready to delve into the realm of fanfiction. Are there any J&W fanfic fans on my flist? Can you rec me places to go, fics to read?

Jeeves and Wooster 4x04
Dec. 15th, 2009 11:01 pmThat? Was hilarious! First Jeeves dressed as a woman, then later Wooster dressed as a woman - and "in trouble" XD Bertie's expression when he understood that his aunt was suggesting that "he" was pregnant! XD And once again Bertie's mustache and Jeeves' bottomless hate of it.
Jeeves: *squinting his eyes*
Bertie: Something is arresting your attention, Jeeves? A smut on my nose perhaps?
Jeeves: No, sir, on your upper lip. I thought for a moment that a caterpillar had lost its bearings.
*g* That was so funny! And I liked this "incarnation" of Aunt Dahlia much better, this actress had some spunk in her!

Jeeves and Wooster 4x01-3
Dec. 14th, 2009 11:05 pmAnother three episodes set in the US. I loved them jumping off the ship to escape the enraged mob. Ha! That was funny.
But, you know, these episodes seem to be missing the... spark of the first seasons. I mean, S3 had the best scene of all - Bertie stealing the painting! - but as the show progresses, the plots become quite... old, recycled, you know? Even Bertie seems tired of the shenanigans. Also, it's a bit annoying that they keep changing the actors playing the various characters, it's rather confusing :(
I don't know if it was intentional or not, but to me it feels like Bertie is... maturing. I could actually see him settling down in the country with Jeeves or traveling through the world with him. It seems like even Bertie is slowly having enough of his friends' dragging him places and getting him in the most ridiculous troubles. It's very subtle, no glaring changes, just a feeling...

Jeeves and Wooster 3x04-6
Dec. 9th, 2009 10:43 pmYou know, Jeeves always knows how to get Bertie out of any kind of trouble - on the other hand, he certainly knows how to land him right in, too!
The best part of those three eps? Bertie stealing the painting! OMG, I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard!
The best quote?
Bertie: Why is that the thought of the little thing my Aunt Dahlia wants me to do fills me with nameless foreboding?
Jeeves: Experience, sir?
And I feel the need to read some hurt!Bertie, comforting!Jeeves stories. I mean, they smacked poor Bertie twice over the head, rendering him unconscious both times! Within several minutes! That needs an h/c fic!

Jeeves and Wooster 3x02+3
Dec. 6th, 2009 09:15 pmThis "American Arc" is pretty funny. I love the lift boy and his reactions to the comings and goings in Bertie's flat.
The funniest quotes?
Bertie: On no account let me agree to us staying overnight.
Jeeves: Very good, sir. Might one enquire why?
Bertie: Because, Jeeves, of all the places on this great planet of ours, West Neck Long Island has been chosen to be the most unexciting. The last time anything remotely interesting happened here was in 1842, when a tree fell over. They still talk about it in the village.
Bertie: Jeeves, you seem to have a fatal fascination for the women of this country.
Jeeves: Yes, it is a problem, sir.
Bertie: There's no chance of your switching it off or something, I suppose?
Jeeves: I regret not, sir. I have to learn to bear it.
Bertie: As do the rest of us.
I'm now halfway through the series. I love the eps that focus on Jeeves and Bertie best. It's the small things that make their relationship interesting - like when Jeeves hated Bertie's... erm, mustache and in the end, Bertie shaved it off to make Jeeves happy :P

Jeeves and Wooster 2x04, 2x06, 3x01
Dec. 4th, 2009 10:52 pm2x04 - Jeeves quit because Bertie wouldn't stop playing trombone! Ha, and the new valet! He almost poisoned Bertie with the spoiled meat! And they burned down the house! And Jeeves returned to Bertie because not one of his new masters lived up to his high standard. He!
2x06 - Jeeves' reaction to Bertie's plans for getting a child - or figuring out the procedure leading to obtaining one! - was hilarious! My favorite quote? The one in my icon! And I loved the dog - Irish Wolfhounds are beautiful dogs! And Jeeves has more amorous acquaintances than Bertie!
3x01 - Hilarious! I LOL'ed when Bertie was breaking into Stoker's house and then later on when he caused the scene in the restaurant! And when he slept in the hut with all the noise outside! And then there was the lift boy and his hilarious reaction to Jeeves always carrying the drunk brat! J&W is always great but this episode floored me with its humor! Poor Bertie, always smack in the middle of troubles thanks to his... erm, friends.

Jeeves and Wooster 2x02+3
Dec. 2nd, 2009 10:16 pmI'm glad that the arc with the newt!guy and all the weddings and the judge and the wannabe dictator is over. That was rather boring and it felt a bit like lather, rinse, repeat. Too many characters, too little attention paid to Jeeves and Wooster and their banter.
But yay for 2x03! We are back to Bertie being accosted by his aunt Agatha and Jeeves pulling strings to get his master out of various engagements! That was so funny and cool!

Jeeves and Wooster 1x04+5
Nov. 30th, 2009 11:26 pmYup, it's the two-parter with the newt!guy - see my icon ;P The British government should really use Bertie as a one-man mayhem troupe to disrupt their enemies' plans. It was pretty funny how he tried to help but ended up being hated by everyone - which brought everyone back together again. And Jeeves' smugness... Ha!
One of my favorite quotes?
Wooster: I've just had another thought.
Jeeves: Oh, I am relieved, sir.
*g* Oh yes, nobody but Jeeves can call someone an idiot and do it politely! Ha!

Bertie should really be forbidden to do anything on his own. Either he puts a foot in his mouth or he creates unimaginable mayhem. How did he even survive before he got Jeeves? And Jeeves himself? Nothing ruffles his feathers. Though I loved the way he lead McIntosh on the leash, all... politely disgusted, ha!
I find this show incredibly funny and relaxing. And Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry... There's this great... how should I call it? Rapport between them. Hilarious!

Jeeves and Wooster 1x01
Nov. 16th, 2009 05:54 pmWooster is such a cute idiot. And Jeeves rocks my socks. What a hilarious little show. It's like drops of good feeling that drive away the sad. I mean...
Lady Gosslop: His Grace is under the impression that he is a canary.
Bertie: Oh, well, a mistake anyone might make.
*head/desk* How were they able to say such a nonsense with a straight face is beyond me XD
