don't be dull, be fannish

It's done. I'm done watching J&W. And I had a blast, really. There were weaker episodes and stronger ones but the quotes were always hilarious and Jeeves always saved the day. What a man, this Jeeves.

My favorite quote in the last two episodes?
Bertie: Women always put a damper on things, don't they, Jeeves?

I love you, Bertie, don't ever change.

My favorite scene in the whole series? Bertie trying to steal the painting in S3! That makes me still giggle!

And now I'm all ready to delve into the realm of fanfiction. Are there any J&W fanfic fans on my flist? Can you rec me places to go, fics to read?

Another three episodes set in the US. I loved them jumping off the ship to escape the enraged mob. Ha! That was funny.

But, you know, these episodes seem to be missing the... spark of the first seasons. I mean, S3 had the best scene of all - Bertie stealing the painting! - but as the show progresses, the plots become quite... old, recycled, you know? Even Bertie seems tired of the shenanigans. Also, it's a bit annoying that they keep changing the actors playing the various characters, it's rather confusing :(

I don't know if it was intentional or not, but to me it feels like Bertie is... maturing. I could actually see him settling down in the country with Jeeves or traveling through the world with him. It seems like even Bertie is slowly having enough of his friends' dragging him places and getting him in the most ridiculous troubles. It's very subtle, no glaring changes, just a feeling...

This "American Arc" is pretty funny. I love the lift boy and his reactions to the comings and goings in Bertie's flat.

The funniest quotes?
Bertie: On no account let me agree to us staying overnight.
Jeeves: Very good, sir. Might one enquire why?
Bertie: Because, Jeeves, of all the places on this great planet of ours, West Neck Long Island has been chosen to be the most unexciting. The last time anything remotely interesting happened here was in 1842, when a tree fell over. They still talk about it in the village.

Bertie: Jeeves, you seem to have a fatal fascination for the women of this country.
Jeeves: Yes, it is a problem, sir.
Bertie: There's no chance of your switching it off or something, I suppose?
Jeeves: I regret not, sir. I have to learn to bear it.
Bertie: As do the rest of us.

I'm now halfway through the series. I love the eps that focus on Jeeves and Bertie best. It's the small things that make their relationship interesting - like when Jeeves hated Bertie's... erm, mustache and in the end, Bertie shaved it off to make Jeeves happy :P

Pauline: What had you done to those people, Bertie?
Bertie: I was once engaged to their daughter.
Pauline: Ah *nodnod*

That pretty much sums Bertie up XD Oh, I also loved the scene where Bertie called Pauline an "old prune" XD Or where everybody ran around with blackened faces! Ha!

Not as good as the previous episodes - though the cow-creamer was quite a hilarious object. What stuck in my mind was that Jeeves was a member of a club called Junior Ganymede - Ganymede, the beloved of Zeus and symbol of homosexual love. Ha! *rotf*

Bertie should really be forbidden to do anything on his own. Either he puts a foot in his mouth or he creates unimaginable mayhem. How did he even survive before he got Jeeves? And Jeeves himself? Nothing ruffles his feathers. Though I loved the way he lead McIntosh on the leash, all... politely disgusted, ha!

I find this show incredibly funny and relaxing. And Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry... There's this great... how should I call it? Rapport between them. Hilarious!
