"Skyscrapers of Oz" by Yoshino Somei & Row Takakura

Rating: ♣ ♣ ♣

The seme/uke characterization is very stereotypical here - the semes are larger, older and tougher, the ukes smaller, younger and sweeter - but that's not something I necessarily mind if the story is good. And this manga has an actual plot, it's not just sexing all around. What I do mind is the fact that it's about adult men sleeping with teenagers. That's dangerously close to being skeevy and squicky, to be perfectly honest. And that's why only 3 stars.

"Sleeping Moon #2" by Kano Miyamoto

A good manga but I don't think it lived up to its potential. Especially the relationship between Akihito and Ren disappointed me. Yes, they became a couple but I still felt that Akihito was in love Eitaro, not with Ren, that he just tolerated Ren because Ren wouldn't take no for an answer - and the saddest thing was, Ren knew. Or at least he suspected it. So even though they broke the curse, it still felt like they were just a bunch of sad, pining people, unable to get what they wanted.

"Sleeping Moon Vol. 1" by Kano Miyamoto

Much funnier than the cover and the synopsis suggested. Akihiko's reactions to anything supernatural were hilarious. And I thought Ren would be the aloof one so the way he suddenly became so clingy surprised me. I wonder why the change of heart. Was it, as Akihiko suspected, just because they were in the same boat? Or was it something more?

"Sakura-Gari Vol. 2" by Yuu Watase

Not for faint-hearted people or for those who are easily squicked/triggered because this manga deals with madness, obsession, jealousy, rape, suicide, murder and the Stockholm Syndrome. Everyone in it is crazy or about to become crazy. I still find the story of Tagumi and Souma fascinating. And the artwork is breathtaking.

Story by Shinobu Gotoh, art by Kae Maruya. The story of Yuichi and Iori is quite sad as they are separated by supernatural circumstances - I admit that I even got teary-eyed in places - but the manga ends on a hopeful note so it's not really an unhappy ending, more like the story is left open ended and you can supply the ending you would like. The thing that catches your attention from the start though, is the art. Wow, the art is amazing, enthralling even I would say. I need to find other works by Kae Maruya!

Review: Oh my, it's been so long since I read a true graphic yaoi manga - and by graphic I mean "with sex" ;) And nobody draws beautiful men the way Hirotaka Kisaragi does. They are stunning - especially those in suits. Yes, the author has a way of drawing men in suits *sighs happily*

This manga is pretty lighthearted compared to Kisaragi's other works like "Innocent Bird" or "BrotherxBrother". It features two couples - Shigure and Ryunosuke are the main couple, Toratsugu and Sai the secondary one. I think I liked Toratsugu and Sai a tiny bit better, just because they were so oblivious to being in love, while Shigure and Ryunosuke were your typical pushy!uke - bumbling!seme pairing.

I think it's a standalone book but pretty good when you want to put a smile on your face :)
