"Soul Deep" by xanthe | Gibbs/DiNozzo | AU | Most people never touch another person's soul... but when a 20 year old Leroy Jethro Gibbs meets an 8 year old Tony DiNozzo, it sparks an event that links them forever. | 83.400 words

Gibbs took a step forward, and then another, peering into the swirling snow, trying to get a better view of the man in the distance. And as he walked, the man walked slowly towards him.

They met somewhere in the middle... and stopped. Gibbs found himself looking into a pair of green eyes that he remembered from a very long time ago.

“Tony?” he whispered, his warm breath clouding the cold air in front of him. “Is it you?”

Loved the fic. Inspired by Pullman's "His Dark Materials" and I just love what xanthe did with it. And the daemons she chose for the team were so, so cute!

"l'essentiel est invisible" by chatona | Gibbs/DiNozzo | AU | Tony admits to being telepathic. Gibbs hires him anyway. | 3.322 words

Gibbs curls one hand into the hair on the nape of DiNozzo's neck, uses it to draw him in. At first it's just the dry touch of lips, but then DiNozzo – Tony – opens his mouth, tilts his head just so and there's a warm sensation around Gibbs' mind, no pressure and no invasion but a simple sense of presence.

A feel!good fic with a smidgen of angst and h/c. And I just love it! <3

"Not That Simple" by slashscribe | Gibbs/DiNozzo | H/c | While working a case, Tony begins to feel sick, and then he wakes up with some startling symptoms. Luckily, Gibbs is there every step of the way. | ~97.000 words

After a moment, Gibbs relaxed into the bench and leaned against the backrest, and Tony hesitantly shifted closer until their sides were pressing, and he let his hand fall to Gibbs' thigh. He felt Gibbs swallow thickly beside him, and Tony knew that for Gibbs, that was a serious display of emotion, and he rested his head on Gibbs' shoulder, relieved when Gibbs shifted and brought his arm up around Tony's back, pulling him close, and Tony felt a strange, quiet atmosphere descend over them, and he wondered if this is what Gibbs used to do with Shannon, if they used to have quiet lazy afternoons on the back porch, if they sat here and watched Kelly play in the backyard, if they ate their breakfast out here - and he sighed and squeezed Gibbs' thigh, and Gibbs squeezed his shoulder in return.

Loved it. Maybe a bit too mushy at the very end, but I really loved the fic as a whole. Certainly one of the best in this fandom. And one of the longest - I mean, it's almost 100.000 words of slashy h/c goodness, peeps. What's there not to like?

"Open Doors, and Other Invitations" by shrift. Gibbs/DiNozzo. Despite all appearances to the contrary, Tony knew how to ignore things. It used to be one of his best coping mechanisms. ~6.300 words.

"English, DiNozzo!"

Tony snapped to attention, looming over Gibbs as best he could. "Sexual identity crisis, Boss. Having one."

There are so few well written fics in this fandom that every one of them needs to be cherished. And this one's excellent. In-character and still hot!

GEN --> "Home Truths" by PrincessFi. Summary: Tony interviews a very special witness. Length: 6.800 words.

“I know my boss was in here talking to you. He’s been telling you that you should talk to us, because we’ll look after you, we can guarantee to keep you safe.” Tony paused, but the boy continued lining up the cars.

“But you’ve heard that before, and you and I both know it’s a crock of shit.”

I really like this fic. Through the interrogation of a child Tony reveals something about his own past. An interesting idea that would actually fit the show pretty well.

GEN --> "The Window" by Summertime. Summary: Tony wakes up alone in a locked room. Gradually, he creates his own way out, but when rescue finally comes, how can he reconcile what he sees with what he knows? Length: 29.700 words.

It scared the hell out of him to think that this new Tony might actually be the real one, the one that had always existed underneath the layers of humanity that he had wrapped around him for the sake of warmth. It was possible that he had underestimated (or was it overestimated, in this case?) Tony. Maybe Tony had always been steel and ice hidden behind his own skin, and Gibbs hadn’t noticed.

Wow, this story totally blew my mind. Hands down, the best fic that I've come across in this fandom so far. It's creepy and scary and it puts you through an emotional wringer without crossing the invisible line of "too much." At no point does it become sappy but you still feel how much Gibbs cares. I'm stunned!
