Wow, the whole episode long it felt as if I was watching the NCIS fic "Andy" by Xanthe filmed. In places I thought, "Hey! I already know that from the fic!" Xanthe must be a psychic of some sort, let me tell you.

Also, I know that many people intensely dislike the exec Shane Brennan - I don't know why exactly but whatever - but the man sure knows what the show is about: family. The team is family. They know each other's strengths and weaknesses and they protect their own.

I loved the scene where Gibbs told DiNozzo Sr. that four years ago, Tony had almost died. And when Gibbs said that he knew that Tony hid behind the mask of a clown and that he was his best agent, my heart melted.

And the talk about the rules. And then the last scene - OMG, the last scene!

And Joe Lando!!!

Loved it!

Those two scenes were my favorites. I'm glad they didn't go the fanfic route that Tony's dad was abusive or something, what the showed was real and explained a lot about Tony.

True, he wasn't abusive but the neglect was there. I mean, some people would say that leaving your child all alone for days in a hotel room in a foreign country actually is abuse. But it does explain why he latched so hard onto Gibbs and why he can't form any kind of lasting relationship with a woman.

Or, I understand about neglect, I'm talking all the Sr. beat on little Tony with him quivering stuff. Should have been more clear and it the state of how little Sr. seemed to care or know his son was very sad and explains a lot of Tony's inabilities to have good relationships and the father figure we see with Gibbs.

I kept thinking the same types of thoughts -- fanfic come to life! Without the smut. Though apparently that happened off screen, since Tony went over for dinner. (There's no way they'll be able to convince me it didn't. *g*)

You know, I haven't seen this much excitement over NCIS on my f-list in AGES! Thank goodness they got back to writing good storylines.

I love it when they show a more serious Tony. Or when they at least acknowledge that he isn't the clown that he pretends to be. It's actually quite intriguing to see these glimpses of a serious!Tony. With the way he usually behaves, they that much more profound.
