I have a spoilery question. I haven't seen the movie yet - and I won't get to see it until two weeks from now *pouts* - but I'm curious...

Does Watson marry in the end?

Which reminds me, since I won't get to see the movie for two more weeks, maybe I should at least read a story or two by Conan Doyle? *ponders* I need to read something in Czech again! I'm losing touch with my own mother tongue!

Watson doesn't actually get married in the movie, but I'm certain he does in the books. I loved the relationship between Holmes and Mary in the movie. They're so fighting over who gets Watson, and I think Watson kind of wants to be there for both.

Watson is married in the books, but there is debate as to the number of times! Its commonly assumed to be between three and five!

OMG, that's so like Wilson in House! I wonder how many of Watson's marriages Holmes personally ruined XP

Well, House is essentially a modern AU of Holmes anyway, especially the early seasons!

So true. But from what I'm hearing about the banter and ruining marriages etc. in the new Holmes, it looks like House and Holmes are influencing each other these days :P

Now I bet that I will love this movie. It so reminds me of House and Amber fighting over Wilson! Did the writers actually watch House before penning down the script?

At the end of the movie, he's still engaged to Mary Morstan, who is the first Mrs. Watson in the books. There is debate as to whether or not there are more wives, due to chronological issues with Single!Watson vs. Married! Watson. I could get more specific, but not without spoilering.

In the movie, Watson and Mary did not meet the same way they did in the books.

Thank you so much for the info. It really does look like the writers of House modeled Wilson after Watson to the dot XP
