As you know, I don't watch SGU but I love this quote by a disgruntled, but amused fan:

"There is a difference between a dark tone and just not being able to see anything. If that ship gets much darker, Universe could just as well become the franchise's first radio drama." ~ mattcci

That amused me to no end for some reason *g*

Heh. The PTB are just a tad too literal-minded. :P

I agree. The airy hallways, coppery walls and stained windows, that's why I preferred SGA to SG-1's underground bunkers.

Strange, I don't have that problem with the series. Maybe some people just have a harder time being objective about it. *shrugs*

I think it's the Nostromo-kinda ship with dark hallways, dark walls and overall darkness etc. I mean, I think that TPTB feel the need to underline the show's darkness with real darkness and that's taking it a step too far for some fans. I know that I'm not a fan of the "I can barely see" and "the camera's shaking" style *shrugs*

It's sort of like the Star Trek franchise. The original Trek was one type of series, and Next Generation was fairly similar. Then came DS9. It was a very different kind of show. In fact, it was too different for my taste. That setting worked for me with Babylon 5, but it wasn't what I wanted from Trek.

For the sake of people who do like the first two Stargate series, I hope Universe does well enough to not kill the franchise. The pendulum can easily swing back to the type of series you prefer.

The thing is that if SGU flops, the franchise will either die entirely or it'll have to wait for another JJ Abrams that would reboot it. I don't think that SyFy would be willing to give another SG show a go if this one was scrapped. And I lost all hope for any future SG movies. I'm still a big fan of the franchise in general and lately, SGU is all that TPTB and reporters talk about, that's why I keep mentioning it even though I don't watch it.

great line

I've been watching SGU because of a lack of anything else ot catch my fancy whilst i knit - they've just shown ep 7 and there is no sign of gatefail, in fact i think they chickened out entirely, because cardboard cutout young slept with his wife in lou diamond philips body and there was glitch in which LDP came to for a moment in the middle of it
thereby gettign the consent issue withotu the pitchforks and burning torches
still convinced a five minute conversation with McKay would fix the whole thing, and that star gate should stick to what it's best at - character dynamics because when they were going into the sun i really didn't care
but am still watching

SGU is not my cup of tea even though I keep posting about it - I'm a big fan of the franchise and unfortunately, lately all the news etc. are about SGU only. Sad.

Though I'm curious if they will actually address and deal with the immorality of having sex in another person's body. I kinda doubt that.

the ep ended with LDP showing up at her house, and she opened the door
roll credits
in brad wright's world I think that is considered dealt with.... but still, if gatefail happens i'll let you know
althouogh to be fair i'd rather with LDP than colonel cardboard cut out young - dear god he makes scenery look like a talented actor

Isn't it? I'm not a fan of this "dark and shaky" style either :(
