“The CW Is On The Edge Of The Cliff”:

[A]t least one broadcast network will flunk. Right now, I think the CW is on the edge of the cliff. I know they are going after the young audience, but their shows are not working for the most part. “Melrose Place” is a disaster. “90210″ is the same thing. Both shows are done.

I think CW has a year or two to make it. This could be the final year of the CW if the ratings don’t get better I think that network will drop.

Well, TVbythenumbers' Bill Gorman doesn't think that the situation is that dire, still... On the other hand, there's only one show that I really care about on the CW and that's Supernatural which might - or might not, who knows - end this season anyway. After that, the CW can fall off the edge of the Earth and I won't miss it *shrugs*

I'm right there with you. SPN is the only show I watch on the CW.

I heard The Vampire Diaries is performing well in ratings. Too bad Dawn Ostroff is so bent on renewing shows that are doing horrible, like Melrose Place, instead of supporting the ones with higher ratings. :/

I used to watch Smallville too but with that show I'll wait until it finishes and then buy it on DVD!

I don't get her obsession with MP either. It's pretty embarrassing XP

I was thinking the same thing about Vampire Diaries. I casually watch it since it's before SPN and the series isn't that bad... and yet, it was overlooked, which is peculiar because of the popularity of Twilight and, to a lesser extent, True Blood.

A part of me thinks the article is not balanced, thus, biased toward reporting the worst outcome to attract site attention.

Editing to add, I almost forgot Gossip Girl. I don't watch the series, but I thought that show wasn't doing bad in ratings (by CW's rankings). Both GG and TVD are geared for 'teen' audience.

I think it's inviting disaster when a network targets such a specific audience like W18-34. They're not Lifetime or some other cable. TVD is the only hit they've been able to get in years - and Ostroff didn't even want it! The WB suits over-ruled her!

About GoGi - yup, it's still doing well in W18-34, like 2.3 demo (though compared with Glee that's getting like 5.1 in that demo...). But its ratings dropped below 2 mil.! Now they're trying to raise them with the "hot threesome!!!" promos *rolls eyes*

I think that the CW needs to change its strategy real fast. Have you seen what they have planned for 2010-2011? *sigh* Not one thing sounded interesting :(
