SPN's ratings - ouch!

Supernatural dropped but not as much as I feared - I suspected 2.3-2.5 mil. and 1.0/2 demo. It got 2.62 mil. and 1.2/3 demo - viewership was lower than usual but demo stayed as usual. And despite CSI and GA premiering, it dropped only 160.000 - Fringe's premiere hit it much harder so it's probable that Fringe is hurting its numbers more than CSI or GA. I hope that next Thursday, it'll go up again, even if slightly.
But still, ouch!

Please, don't let it drop any lower. Please *crosses fingers*

On the other hand:
Now in its 5th season, SUPERNATURAL has seen its ratings grow over last season by 27% with women 18-34 (1.4/4), 9% in adults 18-34 (1.2/3) and 8% in women 18-49 (1.3/3).
SUPERNATURAL faced tougher competition (against the “Grey’s Anatomy” and “CSI” premieres), and still retained 92% of last week’s adults 18-34 rating (1.2/3), 100% of its adults 18-49 audience (1.2/3) and 94% in total viewers (2.62mil). Source

Date: 2009-09-25 05:53 pm (UTC)The sad thing about those numbers is that they're still far and away some of the CW's best. We've never been a strong performer in the key demos, but the improvement this year means we're doing far better than The Beautiful Life and we're level with Melrose Place in W18-34. Which is ridiculous - there's no way a show like SPN, which appeals rather equally to M18-34 and W18-34 at the moment, should be level in W18-34 with a show that appeals only to W18-34. (Seriously - Melrose got less than 1.5 million viewers and like a 1.45 in W18-34 - that indicates around 70% of the viewers are in that W18-34 group, with the rest probably being in F12-17.)
I'll be really curious to see the DVR numbers for the first couple episodes, because I want to see how many people had to watch later simply because of the competition.
