katikatAsk Ausiello posted a tiny SPN spoiler this week and it made me laugh. Kripke knows his fans so well! :P
Question: Do you have any spoilers about Supernatural? —Tracey
Ausiello: You’ll be thrilled to hear that Sam and Dean’s inability to maintain meaningful long-term relationships with the opposite sex will continue throughout season 5. “We’ve returned to a conceit that works for us and that the fans seem to be able to swallow without vomiting, which is that there’s a girl in every port,” says series creator Eric Kripke. “We certainly have a lot of guest star female love interests that the boys help save and interact with. But at the moment, there are no plans for a longstanding romantic relationships.”
I'm so glad to hear that. And not because I'm a girl!hater but because romantic shipping just doesn't fit this show. The apocalypse, hunters on their butts and brotherly issues are more than enough, thank you very much.

Date: 2009-08-27 12:11 pm (UTC)I agree when it comes to long-term relationships. I don't mind the one-off stuff (as long as it's not every episode), but I can't see either guy wanting to get a girl involved in what they do.
I think a lot of women who mainly watch for the romantic stuff in various series do so because they want to imagine themselves in the place of the girl. (I saw that big time in True Blood fandom. It's part of what turned me off to the show.)
