Fast & Furious, Star Trek... Why do 99.9% of fics in these fandoms have to be porn pure? I think I was spoiled by fandoms like Supernatural, Stargate Atlantis or Sports Night where most fics are very plot-heavy. I very much prefer plot with a smidgen of sex to porn with a smidgen of plot. So I'm quite disillusioned by the creative bareness of a good portion of authors in these fandoms...

Don't get me wrong, I love me some porn and sometimes I'm just 'Screw the plot! Gimme the hot, sweaty sex!' If I had to choose though, give me plot over porn any day. Give me plot AND porn and you've made me one happy fangirl. Even if I'm just going for the gusto, I'd still appreciate a little something more than sticking tab A into slot B. I want character insight or a really spot on 'voices'. And sometimes I like the UST more than the punchline. I sometimes find myself skimming through long sex passages sometimes just to get back to the plot. *G*

Exactly. When the plot is really cool, I skip the sex scenes to get back to it. And I just don't like PWPs much. And sometimes it just feels like the author is using sex to patch empty space and hide the lack of plot :(

I'm hoping for epic plotty Star Trek fic at some time, but I can't lie, I'm usually so pressed for time that porn is all I read. I only even click on all the R or NC-17 pieces in the newsletter! I do like gen, but not necessarily plotty. I really like funny pieces.

Just as long as the characters are right and well-characterized, I'm all for it, plot or porn or both.

Usually, with porn heavy stories I'm "blahblahblah... where's the plot". There's only so many times I can read about thing A going into thing B without any plot to cushion it.
