I need a break!
Apr. 10th, 2009 01:15 pmThat's it! I need a break. It's only April 10th and I already translated and edited three books of the 300+ pages variety this year and I just started another one. My brain's melting. I haven't had more than two days off in a row since... Christmas.
Today, I sat there staring at this sentence for good ten minutes:
I knew exactly what the author meant, it's quite an easy sentence, but for the life of mine, I couldn't figure out how to say it in Czech. Brain-dead *head/desk*
Also, the first three books that I translated this year, were written in American English. This one is in the UK English. And that's a big difference. So far, I found out that Australian English is the easiest to translate, go figure. But it's always hard to flip the switch in your brain and to accommodate to different terms and phrases that sometime make you tilt your head and go all "Huh?"
