I and British shows
Jan. 4th, 2009 09:45 amI see people squeeing about British shows and I just... don't get it, sorry.
Dr. Who - I tried to watch episodes with both Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant but I found the whole show silly and the actors... sleazy *shudders* I honestly don't find either of them handsome or attractive.
Torchwood - Cpt. Jack is hot, he really is. But the show? It always lost me in the middle of a season, 1 and 2 too. I have yet to see the last 6 episodes and I feel no urge to do so any time soon.
Merlin - a cute show with great scripts and awesome music. Better than any other fantasy series lately. But that's it for me.
Being Human - interesting prospect but, well... *shrugs*
Hustle - a funny little series but it really dragged in places.
I love British mystery series - Hercule Poirot, Midsommer Murders... - and their old action shows like The Professionals or Dempsey and Makepeace. And fantasy? Definitely Robin of Sherwood with Michael Praed! The best Robin Hood that I've ever seen!
I think that my problem with British series is of a very shallow nature - I just don't find most of the actors attractive *shrugs* And I think that's also my problem with Robert Carlyle as the lead of Stargate Universe. I see people swooning about how hot he is but when I looked at some clips from his movies/interviews over on YouTube - I had no idea who he was! - I found him... well... uhm... *scratches head*

Date: 2009-01-04 09:48 pm (UTC)But yeeeeeeeeessss to British mysteries, I love Poirot (David Suchet ftw!) Mrs. Marple and such. A more contemporary one you *might* like would be Wire in the Blood perhaps? It is under the mystery/crime section but it's about a profiler helping the police solve erm, violent and/or unusual crimes (and since it's British we get to be treated to these crimes). It's incredibly interesting to me but I'm a Psych major, it may or may not be your cup of tea. :)
Ooooh and mystery shows period that I love would be Murder She Wrote and Nero Wolfe (which I still think was one of the best things produced on television to date).

I love Murder She Wrote. And Columbo. And other similar who-don-its like that. But than, I love mysteries in general :)
