According to GateWorld, there will be an audio interview with Martin Gero about the "controversial McKay/Keller relationship" - among other things, of course. And I can already tell what his answer to this point in question will be. Basically? Something along these lines: "Deal with it! I'm the writer, I know best, you're sheep that don't understand the beauty of McKay doing Keller." Right.

I mean, it is necessary that a writer loves the show for which he writes. But he should love the show as a whole, he shouldn't be infatuated with just one character to the point of seeing no reason and disregarding everybody else on the show - see McKay ridiculing Sheppard for passing the MENSA test in every frickin' episode that Gero wrote! I'm getting quite fed up with Gero and his "indulgent" attitude towards fans in general. Even Mallozzi and Mullie don't push McKay's love life the way Gero does. It's getting quite annoying.

And as the article implies, Gero basically wanted a McKay/Keller episode and the rest was just slapped on it because the network wanted an environmental episode. He didn't care about the plot at all, as long as he could get those two in a sack. That's a bad way to write an episode and it basically explains the main problem I have with this pairing - the writers just decided to stick those two together without giving the relationship any foundations.

They wanted a real and deep romantic relationship on the show? Why not explore the one they already have? Yes, I'm talking about Teyla and Kanaan. Instead of giving this one more substance besides stating that Kanaan is a stay-at-home-dad, they convoluted something out of thin air. I for one would have wanted to see more of Teyla and her background and the customs of her people.

So yeah, I would have preferred if the upcoming movie was written by Allan McCullough or Carl Binder and not the Mallozzi-Mullie duo, but I prefer them to Gero, any day.
