I usually like spin-offs of my favorite series - the new show takes something that you know and gives it a new spin with new characters. If you like the end-result or not, well, that's a different story. For example, I couldn't stand JAG but I love NCIS *shrugs*

CBS is possibly planning an NCIS spin-off and I'm quite looking forward to it (as long as they don't break up my Gibbs!team, that is). The old show will keep on going and we will be given a new series and get the chance to fall in love with before the old show is laid to rest one day.

On the other hand, there is Stargate: Universe. SGA was canceled to make room and raise money for this new project and no one will convince me otherwise, sorry. And the fact that my favorite show was dumped for yet another spin-off, that I wasn't given a grace period to fall in love with the new product before my old love was given up on, angers me beyond belief and it totally clouds my judgment where SGU is concerned.

And that's the thing about spin-offs. As long as the spin-off is a companion to the old show, I can be quite happy about it and look forward to it. But once it's a replacement and it's presented as a replacement, my enthusiasm hits rock bottom *sigh*

Did I hear it right that now even actors like David Hewlett refer to the new show as Stargate 90210? Because HA!

Otherwise, agreed. Would have been so much better to keep SGA and run the shows as a double feature. Now, if the new one fails, they will have squat and killed off a perfectly good franchise.

SGA has been really bad lately - Prodigal was the last really awesome episode - but that's the writers' fault. I still love the characters, I love Joe Flanigan's Sheppard and David Hewlett's McKay and I still feel very sad that it was canceled. And my disappointment is totally working against SGU. My excitement for the show? Sub zero. I think that it was a really bad move to cancel one and greenlight the other just the day after, thinking that the viewers will behave like sheep and simply move on *sigh* But I am looking forward to the SGA movie no matter what. And I hope that they will keep filming those *crosses fingers*

I've just been catching up on the last three episodes that I missed and hm, not all that spectacular. The Michael episode felt more like "thread now wrapped up, moving on", the next one was truly shocking for a moment there when I thought they totally did hack off Sheppard's hand and he was still an awesome badass later but then it turned out to be 0815 alien mindgame and the last one would just fit better in a soap with the focus being McKay/Keller-ship. Not to mention Keller was annoying because if she really does want a "nice" guy as in tactful, always politically correct and so on, why the hell is she dating Rodney?

And looking at the spoilers it seems like real team-episodes won't be happening till the Finale. But of course, another Keller ep. How come every other side character gets one per Season and she is up to her 3rd? 4th?

And my disappointment is totally working against SGU. My excitement for the show? Sub zero.

I'll check it out of course but they did a lousy job pimping it, even basically giving the "old" fans a: fuck you, we want younger ones. Be thankful you have an established fanbase at all, dudes.

But I am looking forward to the SGA movie no matter what. And I hope that they will keep filming those *crosses fingers*

Yeah, I hope they do cool adventurish team two-parters as movies.

I loved the Michael episode even though I thought I wouldn't. It was a real team ep where everybody had something to do and there were awesome McShep scenes - also, Keller was mentioned once in the whole ep, which was great too and it showed just how much Rodney loves her: he was afraid for John to the point of panicking but the fact that Jennifer was in there somewhere in the city under siege too was left completely unmentioned. Right. It just shows that Rodney settled for the "second best" since he couldn't have John ;P And the music was awesome. Wow, Joel Goldsmith did an awesome job there *nods*

Other than that... Meh. The eps were pretty boring. I'm just miffed that they make it look like Keller is Rodney's one and only love, destiny at all *rolls eyes* My comfort zone there? John saw her die in the future ;P

I've always liked the Michael and the ep itself was pretty cool but in the end I thought the writerss were going "Michael *check*" because it is their last Season and they wanted this over with.

Ha. And now that you say it, I didn't even think about Keller once during this episode.

I don't even know why they suddenly needed a relationship as if the show couldn't have gone without it. Stargate has never really been about that.
