Yes, the covers are definitely the eye catchers. My biggest recollection about that first one is how poor the plot was. She buys out her contract and then her agency puts a price on her head even though she basically did things "legally", but they just wanna hold a grudge? Just felt like a petty reason to try to drive a plot, and I kept waiting for something to happen that would make it all make sense and after a point I just gave up on it.
Have you read Patricia Brigg's Mercy Thompson books? I just picked up the second one. Loved the first one though I caught a couple little plot holes, but they weren't so glaring I couldn't let them go and just go on with the story.
