I just started working on Sara Douglass' "StarMan" and, for Christ's sake, I'm not even done with chapter one and there it is again, Douglass' double standards for men and women. In her books, women can't do any wrong while men are filth on the soles of their shoes.
Like in the conversation Embeth and Faraday had in the stables. Embeth went all "my poor poor self", talking about how StarDrifter used her and discarderd her after he had satisfied his curiosity, that he had no real interest in her. Oh, she on the other hand considered him an irresistible challenge - her own words. She had already slept with his son and now she could have the father too.
Right, StarDrifter was a bastard while Embeth's intentions were pure as fresh fallen snow! *snorts*
