What is it with people misspelling names all the time? Turning Jensen into Jenson, Ronon into Ronan and - my favorite - Sentinel into Sentinal makes me very irked!

SGA fic rec:
MCSHEP --> "Soul and the Company" series by [livejournal.com profile] leahwoof. John is an android on the run that hides at McKay's, pretending to be his PlayMate. This is not a humorous crack!fic. It's angsty and sad and although it does have a happy ending, it made me sniffy and teary-eyed. Words: 80.000+.

So many comments to respond to... so little time! *head/desk*

People cannot spell. This is an established fact of life, and one that is the cause of deep sorrow for the few that can, alas.

I just don't get it. I mean, English is my third language but I do my best to use proper grammar and spelling, especially with names. I know that I misspelled Joe Flanigan's and David Hewlett's names a couple of times but when I realized that, I started to be more careful. It just boggles the mind that English native people can't spell. How can they even pass their classes? Here, they would be stuck in one year until they learned proper spelling - or grew old ;P

Everyone makes spelling errors. I've accidentally spelled Dean Dead before.

I know that people make errors and I don't mind when it is a mistake, really, because it happens to everybody - just take a look at my entries *head/desk* But when someone continually rambles on about how they love and adore Jenson Ackles or The Sentinal or Jarad Padlaceki, it just grates. A lot. It shows that they don't even bother checking the correct spelling.

I know what it is for me about misspelling names - I have a pritty bad Learning disability. So names are particularly hard for me - got me about other people though.

I understand when it's a learning disability, that's perfectly understandable. What I don't get is how a native speaker can do such mistakes *shakes head*

well Jensen and Jenson are both English names - although you'd think if you like the guy you'd know how to spell his name - right?

I'll admit, I used to misspell Ronon back in the day until I saw how it was spelled. *Blushes*

Blair and Jim rocked my socks for so long. They had the best friendship that I had seen on TV until then! X)
