Reaper renewed

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Reaper was renewed for a 2nd season: "Reaper will return for 13 episodes mid-season and will likely be paired with Supernatural on Thursday nights after Smallville concludes its run."

Okay, does that mean that Smallville gets only 13 eps in S8, finishing mid-season? *scratches head* I thought that it was picked up for a full season...

That's what it sounds like for "Smallville." I think everyone (like the actors and writers) is pretty much done with that show anyway.

But, yay for "Reaper" being renewed. I think it'll be a good pair with "Supernatural."

I think so too. I mean, if so many actors/producers want to go, they should have ended it this season. On the other hand, it's their only well rated scripted show and they cling to it desperately X(

I also think that Reaper'll be a good pair with SPN. But I bet that it'll get the cushy 8/7c pm spot and SPN will stay stuck with the big baddies. And then the Reaper fans will gush about how awesome its ratings are compared to SPN *sigh*

Probably. I mean, Lana, Lex... other characters now too. The writers are gone. It's really like rats leaving a sinking ship.

It probably will get the 8/7 spot, but that's cuz it's a gentler show, in the way of the gore factor that is, what with the blood Supernatural has been throwing around this season.

No, Smallville got renewed for a full season. They'll just share the time slot and neither show will air repeats, presumably (e.g. Smallville will air like 11 episodes straight, Reaper goes for 13 - probably doubling up into 9pm to avoid holidays, then Smallville goes for the last 11, or something like that).

That's kinda really... weird *scratches her head some more* Or maybe they won't repeat SV at all, just air 22 eps in a row and then go for Reaper? They plan to do that with Chuck on NBC, just air all 13 eps in a row.

And I would love for TPTB to move SPN to 8/7c and keep Reaper at 9/8c, though I'm afraid that won't happen. SPN is too gory for that *sigh* And that means that Reaper fans will growl because they won't have any lead-in but at the same time, they will gloat over how their show does better than SPN, even though comparing Thursday's 8/7c and 9/8c slots is like comparing apples to oranges...

I don't like Reaper - too vulgar for my liking like any other Kevin Smith stuff - but I knew that there were fans of the show on my flist, that's why I posted it :)

I would love for SPN to be placed in the 8/7c slot! I mean, it did SO well the one time it was aired there - and it was a repeat too! But as you say, SPN is too gory for that *sigh*

Well! The CW has done it with many another CW show! <3 There has to be some repeats somewhere, though - the three major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years) all fall on Thursdays this year, and airing new shows those days are ratings suicide.

They couldn't air 22 episodes in a row if they started in the fall - they'd have to have started filming like early this month, hee. (It takes them a little over 9 months to film a season.) Even 13 episodes is too many to air before the new years, since most shows can't film more than 11 or 12 before the end of the year ...

Or maybe they weren't talking about the season 2008-2009 but 2009-2010 in terms of pairing these two shows up? Who knows...
