Hallelujah! I finished translating Weis and Hickman's "Dragons of the Vanished Moon", the third part of their "War of Souls" trilogy. Now I just have to edit it - that will take me another week or two - and I will be done with it. No more dragons! At least for the time being, that is. 610 pages! *dead*

Also, this article amuses me to no end, really: CWTV.COM To Pull Streaming Of New Gossip Girl Episodes. Quoting Dawn Ostroff: "For these next five weeks the epicenter of the Gossip Girl universe will be on The CW's broadcast television airwaves." OMG, the "epicenter" part made me howl with laughter, really. I'm not slanting GoGi, I know that folks on my flist love it and good for them, but the way she phrased it *rolls on the floor, giggling*

Wow, I haven't read a Weis and Hickman in a long time, that mention brought back memories; I think about rereading them now and then.

Does Dawn O even know what "epicenter" means? Or is she just choosing certain words because they'll make her look smart?

Hehe, I'll be happy to rid myself of Weis and Hickman. It's one thing to read the book. To translate it and spend six hours a day thirty days in a row on it... Ouch. Things that merely annoy you as a reader reach an incredible magnitude when you work with the book XP 610 pages *dead again*

And Dawn amuses me. She tries so hard to act intelligent... Thought it's scary that someone like that is in her position O.O

It sucks when the fun's taken out of it by work. If I do reread them it'll mainly be the original Dragon Lance trilogy and that's it, those are the most nostalgic for me.

Um, yeah, Dawn... she's actually not an exception to the rule. She is the rule. It's boggling how anyone in the 'Wood gets anything done.

I adored translating Jim C. Hines Goblin books. They were so much fun. But in this series, there were so many characters that annoyed the heck out of me - like Silvanoshei with his pining after Mina *sigh* But I can see the appeal of books anchored in a huge universe with many series. And this universe is really rich.

I want to throttle whoever pitched that STUPID idea to stop streaming GG eps. I never watch it on the CW website, but that is just SUCH a retarded idea and the CW is the only network that likes moving backward like this. o__O

The CW is desperate to raise their ratings. I bet that they are doing this to try and see if it will make more people watch the show live. I suspect that TPTB basically ordered Ostroff to prove that the show is viable, that all the money they are pouring into it isn't just disappearing in one big black hole. And this it the only thing that they did not try yet - to basically take away the chance to watch it anywhere without paying for it. That may - or may not, we will see - artifically inflate either the live ratings or iTunes downloads. And Ostroff will have something to boast about.

I loved Weis and Hickman's War of Souls trilogy! I then went onto that Legends trilogy and then the Dragonlance Chronicles trilogy. Those things were so addictive. Though I could see how translating them could be a chore, especially given the length of those books. but congratulations! \o/

Ok, I'm really pissed about the CW thing. I'm in the last month of school and episodes of my fave shows are the only thing that's getting me through life right now. And since I don't have a tv, I rely heavily on network sites to stream stuff. Now, I'll have to find gossip girl another way. DAMN you DAWN

The books themselves are quite interesting and intriguing. But I kind of disliked some of the characters very much - like Silvanoshei who was pining after Mina all the time. Characters like that annoy the heck out of me, men who think with their nether brain ;P That's why I didn't like for example Fiona McIntosh's "Quickening" series.

I do understand what the CW is trying to do but I don't think that they will be successful in gathering more live viewers that way :( And they will only antagonize people who watched the show online :(
