I wonder...

I wonder how the mods of [livejournal.com profile] spnnewsletter choose what to include into their NL and what not *scratches head* I mean, sometimes it feels like all they include are their friends' entries. Just like today - or was it last night for most of the fans? Some girl posted the ratings for the latest airing of SPN. Three days later. With demos only. And this entry was news-worthy. When other people - not just me but folks in the comms too - posted the ratings on Friday already, demos and viewers and retention rates included. Boggles the mind really.

To set things clear - I'm not bashing anybody or anything. It's their comm and they can do with it what they want. They can't be everywhere and know everything, that's obvious, the SPN fandom is HUGE. But the rules for what they do include and don't include are kinda blurry, to be honest. I know that because I posted like 10 fics in the [livejournal.com profile] supernaturalfic comm and there were only like 3 of them in the NL. And one of those times I asked them to include my fic in their NL. But when they missed my fics for the 3rd and 4th time, I ceased to bother, really.

Me whining? Nope, I'm not. To be honest, I could care less if I'm there or not. I know that being non-native English speaker, my fics aren't that good, I don't need any ego stroking. It just really boggles my mind how they decide what's news-worthy and what not *scratches head*

I see people stating resolutely, "I have no sympathy for demons". Right. But for me, knowing that people who go to hell become demons changes everything. Because Dean will become a demon one day too. Not every one of those who went to hell was a bad person when alive. There are shades of grey...

ETA: I find those Nicky Aycox vs. Katie Cassidy debates funny. People obviously adored Aycox. I definitely did NOT. I find the actress yucky. She looks like she's permanently sucking lemons and thinking disgusting thoughts. Too affected for my liking.

Re: [livejournal.com profile] spnnewsletter

1. They did include the ratings in one of the friday editions (http://spn-watcher.livejournal.com/profile), as posted by [livejournal.com profile] agt_spooky. :) I don't know why that second one got there ... maybe it was the discussion? I haven't looked.

2. They compile the newsletter via reading the [livejournal.com profile] spn_watcher friends page. If you aren't one of the users they watch, or you don't crosspost to communities they watch, you won't get picked up. Otherwise, it's either an accident or you've been "blacklisted" for something (like posting uncut spoilers, or not warning for them) or you didn't label your fic with a rating and pairing or something. *shrug*

Aha. Feels too much "secret society" to me *shakes head* There is no bigger comm than supernaturalfic, really, but I have no intention going with my head against the wall or making a fool of myself beginng for attention. Well, it was good to be on the comm. Time to look somewhere else *shrugs*

Well, I looked, and they do watch [livejournal.com profile] supernaturalfic! I don't know what to tell ya, man - I know some of the girls who compile for the comm, and I know they'd never intentionally skip something.

Wait a minute: there were Nicki Aycox vs. Katie Cassidy debates? Dude! I had this dream last night where Ruby and Meg were duking it out to see which one is going to destroy Sam. I didn't even know about those debates. Talk about subconsciously seeing something.

Yeah, you see it all over the net. Katie Cassidy is trash, Nicki Aycox for president XP I don't get it, really. Aycox really isn't Oscar material either, sheesh! *shakes head*

I totally agree, petal, and I think it puts a nice spin on things story-wise.

Me too! Me too! I liked the plot twist. I mean, it kinda bummed me that nobody ever explained where the demons came from. They just existed.
