Curious, how do you decide if a book is worth your time? I read the summary - of course ;P - and then I go to Amazon and check out the reviews, the best and the worst. Chances are good, that the best ones are written by rabid fans/friends of the author or the author her/himself - *cough*Laura Baumbach*cough* - but in the worst ones, you find out if there are spelling or grammar mistakes etc. because the reviewers who give the worst ratings are either jerks or nit-pickers. Usually, the middle ground is the truth.

Today, I had a good laugh, though. I came across a review calling the heroine of a paranormal book "potty mouthed nag hag". And why? Because she uses phrases like - and I quote - 'Holy hell, holy crap, freaking this, freaking that.' Wow, a woman dares to say holy hell! The world is coming to its end, call the priests! Sheesus! If she was going all 'fuck this and fuck that and son of a bitch', I would say yeah, she is a "potty mouth". But this is ridiculous *shakes head*

I rarely have time to read lately, but when I do it's almost always a book recommended by a friend, a professor or The New Yorker.

I used to just go find books that looked interesting and give them a go, but not when my time is so limited.

I work with books every day, being a translator, but I still love to read them in my free time too. Yes, I'm crazy :P But since I'm single, I spend my free time watching TV and jigsaw puzzling or reading fics or books :)
