There is a Super Wiki site for all the Fangoria vids etc.. There are several videos listed for Jewels667 and BabyBlueSteel. BBS has more of them but their quality is far from good and Jared's voice is so hushed that you can barely understand him. J667's vids are much clearer and understandable. Just to warn people :)
Now, Hardcastle & McCormick. Yup, still watching this show. Episode 1x13 is hilarious! Hardcastle playing dixieland with his band of judges at 3 AM and pissed-off McCormick trying to drown their racket with rock music X) That was hilarious. And then the cops came and fined the both of them for disturbance! *giggles*
And now to Supernatural musings - this has nothing to do with my flist, just some stuff that I read lately in comms...
When the rumors about Sam's dead in AHBL popped up on the net, fans went crazy, convinced that they were killing Sam for real. Now, fans are all afraid that Dean will die. Come ON! *rolls eyes* How can either of them die and stay dead without the show going down the drain? I mean, I could see them dying if it was an ensemble show like CSI or Grey's but this series is about the Winchesters. Without them, there is NO show! I mean, did ANYBODY think that they would kill Sam off and let Dean bounce around the US all alone? *rolls eyes some more*
And now to the new spoiler posted: All I see in the comms is people whining about Sam going evil, how it would ruin the show. For pete's sake! This show is basically about Sam going/not going dark-side! He has DEMON blood in him and that won't just go puff on itself. Besides, who would want him to stay the cute, innocent baby that he was at the beginning of the show? I wouldn't.
I love Sam bad-ass and kick-ass. I find his powers hot. I'm excited that they will bring them back. I'm convinced that Kripke would NEVER set Sam against Dean and vice versa. For an ep or two? Why not. But not long-term-ish. I'm just kinda tired of all the "I want Sam to stay the same" talk. He can't. If he stayed the same, he would leave Dean and go back to school because that's who he was at the very beginning of this series *huffs*
It will always be "Sam and Dean against the world" - more or less - psychic!Sam or not. And if he went berserk trying to save Dean? Bring it on because that would make me a happy camper!

Date: 2008-01-20 06:29 pm (UTC)And I just hope if they bring back the powers it`s shortterm and if anything he retains only the vision because otherwise it can only be a Superhero and his sidekick. A normal human hasn`t got enough going for him to be an equal partner to someone with superpowers.
In that case I WANT them to give Dean a nice, heroic death and spare me the travesty. Sorry to say.

Date: 2008-01-20 06:59 pm (UTC)He only had the visions so far, except for telekinesis one time. And against the Psychic Kids with their powers Dean has always been totally useless.
If Sam could use mind control - well, the problem of questioning victims is solved, if he had superstrength, could control demons, flings enemies away telekinetically - what does he need Dean for, really? Maybe to hold his jacket and cheer him on from the sidelines.
His normal abilities are worthless in the face of such powers and Sam already does the geek part of the relationship so he`d be Buffy, Giles and Willow rolled into one. For Dean it leaves the comic relief role of the usually useless Xander who got thrown a bone of importance every now and then.
Honestly I`d hate that. Would get me to drop the show in a heartbeat.

Date: 2008-01-20 07:45 pm (UTC)Sam and Dean are partners. Sam might be psychic but without Dean, he's nothing. And that goes both ways. I just don't understand why psychic!Sam should turn Dean into a weakling. That's like saying that Nathan from Heroes is weak because he has only one power but his younger brother is allmighty. Such comparing would have no end.
So far it looks like Sam will get all powerful to save Dean. And I'm all for that. It would be a good way out of the deal.

Date: 2008-01-20 07:52 pm (UTC)I`d say the same "what the hell do we need Sam for now?" Well at least Sam can just bring the brains.
I just don`t see how the stories would go. Any hunt Sam can handle pretty much fine on his own. In fact Dean might be a burden for him.
Sam might be psychic but without Dean, he's nothing.
And that`s where I differ because as a Superman and central figure in the arc he would be all kinds of things, solely without Dean. Being someone the true hero loves is just not enough to me, in no story.
That's like saying that Nathan from Heroes is weak because he has only one power but his younger brother is allmighty.
Well, Peter IS more central to the story than Nathan but at least Nathan has one power, as such he is in the club aka the show about people with superpowers. And it`s ensemble, you have lots of other characters with only a power or even those like HRG with none.
But Dean and Sam are in a two-man show. If one was Superman, the other would be his sidekick. Unless they introduced kryptonite and cancelled the powers out every episode there is no way I see that working and not diminish Dean.
So far it looks like Sam will get all powerful to save Dean. And I'm all for that. It would be a good way out of the deal.
I`d be fine if he doesn`t get out of the deal and a storyline for Dean evolves from that.
If he just stands there and waits for the Superhero to save him he is every damsel in distress in every movie. For Dean himself that role is so lame, he can do that offscreenville.
He needs to make active contributions to the plot to warrant his continued presence in the show.

Date: 2008-01-20 08:04 pm (UTC)And see I`m not by a longshot. If I was less invested in the show or what I it from what I could be, but this role would make me so dissatisfied for Dean and so put-off with SuperSpecial!Sam I would have no one left to be interested in.
So my hope is they won`t go there as a viewer I wouldn`t follow.

I disagree kind of fundamentally here. How does being saved from an impossible situation always make one a damsel in distress?
And it's very, very plausible that, ultimately, Sam's the one who's going to need saving. You can't play with these kind of powers without repercussions.
And one character having powers does not make a character without them lesser or not worthy of being a hero, which is something kind of important to consider - who is the greater hero? The one who saves the world (or people or things) with demonic powers, or the one who does it without them? Is there a greater hero? (For example, let's compare Batman and Superman - which is the greater hero? The one who risked his life every single day, or the alien with superpowers [well beyond mere powers] who was only vulnerable to kryptonite?) Or is it the duo that balances - Sam can't go over the edge if Dean's there, Dean's more "humanistic" influence, the influence he alone has over his brother, creating a critical balance? I go with the duo - Sam and Dean are a team. The demonic powers only compliment that to insane degrees. IMHO.

Date: 2008-01-21 02:42 pm (UTC)Now that I wouldn`t have a problem with, at least the visions. He cna have one every episode and I wouldn`t mind. Never wanted them to drop that, in fact the seer and warrior dynamic is quite neat.
TK is a bit more tricky because it`s a very active power which gives him much of an easy advantage but even that would be workeable.
I just don`t or ever wanted Sam to go the way we`ve seen Jake go in the end, flip the switch and suddenly he had access to mind control and given time probably to every single power we`ve seen or heard in the show.

Date: 2008-01-20 08:22 pm (UTC)While this is a nice thought I`m talking about the structure of stories if Sam were to retain the full powers (we`ve encountered from the Psy-Kids) for longer than a Mini-Arc. THEN he`d be Superman.
And in the nature of Superman-stories he needs either Supervillains to not make it too easy or there needs to be something like kryptonite to cancel the powers out and give the normies around him something to do other than being saved by him and cheering him up.
Imagine any old hunt and Sam with all these powers, it makes it too easy. There isn`t even a need for Dean to be there or do anything, no matter that he can`t measure up. He will look inferior.
That`s how every single Superhero story ends up looking because there is no way around it. Which is why I don`t want to watch Smallville 2.0 where at least beforehand I knew what it would be about.
And it's very, very plausible that, ultimately, Sam's the one who's going to need saving. You can't play with these kind of powers without repercussions.
Now that`s what I`m envisioning actually. Sam going over the line and Dean being called upon to do something active that contributes to the plot in a significant way.
And then the powers are dealt with once and for all hopefully.

Date: 2008-01-20 08:46 pm (UTC)Dean is going to be his saving grace. Sam has powers, yes, but they're from DEMON blood. Which means that they're probably inherently evil, even though Sam would want to use them for good. And just because Sam's powers come back in a scary way doesn't mean he can control them. He's never been able to control them, lol. All the other psychic kids were wayyy ahead of him in that department. So he's by no means suddenly going to become this all-powerful being. He's still going to be Sam, who sucks at controlling his powers. Who always needs his brother to help him stay grounded. It'll be awesome and full of sparkly Winchester love. I'm SO excited.
