So, I went to read Buddy TV's interview with Sera Gamble and boy, do I love the responses the article received! XD I'm just happy that it's not just me, that there are others out there who share my opinion :D I just hope that Kripke and Gamble actually read the comments...

It's funny, but I actually liked all the girls on the show so far. Except Meg, maybe. I liked Jo - here was a teenaged girl plagued with the romantic notions of evil hunting and being an outcast, with a crush on Dean, ditched for the guy's brother. I sympathise with that. Ruby annoyed the hell out of me in Sin City, but her being a demon made it a little better - if she's so old, she's allowed to be a little lame. I'd like some more story about her, and that she is planning her own Armageddon, or whatever, but I can deal. The one thing I disliked about Bela being there is that she made the boys look like morons. Otherwise, I'm perfectly happy with her being the evil mercenary out to earn money. Of course, I will be very disappointed if Dean doesn't cause her severe body harm the next time they meet, but still.

But Gamble being thrilled about "redeeming" Bela? Sorry, fail. No amount of sob will redeem her. Let her stay evil, for SPN's sake!

Exactly! I didn't like Meg - but it was because I really don't like the actress. Jo's unrequited love towards Dean was kind of novelty, you know, with him treating her like a little sister and she all doe eyed :D Ruby is annoying but she's a part of the overall storyline. But Bela? Sorry, they put too much effort in me hating her for me to accept her as a "love interest" - because I'm pretty certain that's what this is about - now. If she has to stay, keep her an evil bitch. Don't force her sob story on us.

Ruby will maybe a little less annoying when we know what her angle is. As in,
Ruby: So yes, I plan on taking over Hell.
Sam: ... So you're helping me save Dean why?
Ruby: Did you ever look at your brother? Every demon who's ever heard of him is storming the Dealing Demon's palace to buy him. We're looking at a civil war here!

Bela I've come to accept as the personification of evil in the human world. Aside from Benders there was nothing of that sort. And I actually liked not her but her part in Fresh Blood. I cheered when she panicked after Dean promised he'd kill her. Still hope he hurts her - he should, regardless of her help later. XD And I wouldn't care if they gave us her sob story, provided it wouldn't be "the episode without Sam and Dean", because there is nothing they could show us that would endear her. The woman is evil by choice, I fail to see how that excuses anything.

I sure hope not. The level of vitriol and entitlement coming from those comments (many of which are near copies of identical comments made over at the CW Source, where the article originated) is appalling. I don't care if a person thinks Ruby & Bela are low as horse manure, telling people how to run their show and acting like one has some sort of "right" to see exactly what they want on the show is just ... wrong, not to mention friggin' weird and how the hell can we blame show runners and actors for thinking fans are insane, if they see this kind of shit? People like that are part of the reason I LEFT Television Without Pity, where it runs RAMPANT. I guess you find entitlement everywhere, though. Not to mention the rudeness.

Like, seriously:

We have power & need to show that power if we want Supernatural to change!

*attempts to rip out my eyeballs and unsee that* No. Just. No. Entitlement, jesus. *shakes head sadly*

Ugh. Sorry for venting, this just leaves a really bad taste in my mouth, really rubs me the wrong way ... :(

edited to make sense. and. *cringe* i swore i wasn't going to vent today. *covers face with hands*

I on the other hand hope that Kripke and Co. do read these articles. Rudeness aside, the gist of the comments is that most fans - and I'm saying MOST not ALL, which I gathered from the CW's Blog, dean_sam and supernatural_tv, TV.com, pifeedback etc. - do NOT want Bela to be a poor misunderstood hurt love-seeking girl. Most of the fans don't like her period and from what I've gathered, this "redeeming" of Bela would simply turn them off. And it's not just the comments.

Every episode that Bela was in, dipped in viewership like a LOT. As they said in pifeedback, the moment Bela appeared in the first scene of Fresh Blood, some fans turned it off. Sure, you can say that these are not real fans but they matter in the ratings. And when the writers antagonize their viewers with one character to the point of them turning the TV off, then there is something very wrong.

And besides, Kripke promised us antagonists, no One Tree Hill. Gamble is going on and on and on about how big of an asset Bela could be. Uh uh, the girl who didn't care about people dying so that she could get a bit of a money? The girl who sent a crazy killer after Sam and Dean without warning them? The girl who shot Sam for a stupid artifact? Sorry, the only way she could redeem herself in my eyes would be if she took Dean's place in Hell. Ha, that would be great.

Yes, I'm venting too. But Gamble's harping about Bela just rills me pretty bad. Give me any female character - hell, I like Ruby! - just not Bela. Ruby at least doesn't make the Winchesters look like dumb idiots *huffs*

I didn't even need to read the comments. That poll of who we want to see more of was funny. 49% want them both gone.

Well, I do kind of like Ruby ;) I wasn't in the fandom last year when the whole Jo-thing happened so I don't know if fans were this rebellious about her or if his is something new... *curious*

Well, Jo was halfway decent. And, she brought Ellen with her. I would trade these two for Ellen and Jo any day.

Word! To be honest, I kind of started liking Jo after BUaBS. I mean, her unrequited love for Dean was a kind of novelty. I liked the way he treated her like a little sister.
